Have you ever gotten a phone call from yourself? My phone rang several days ago. I checked the caller ID and was shocked to see my own name and phone number! I answered the phone and got my own recording..."We can't come to the phone right now. . ." How could this have happened?

No phone calls like that but I get emails from myself that are ads for products I have no interest in. Weird!

I haven't had that happen but I have had an answering machine call me back and continue with the recorded message when I didn't care to leave a message and just hung up.

For a minute, I thought about the call and had a scary thought! I have a phone upstairs. What if someone is calling me from upstairs!!!! I checked out the house and felt kind of silly afterward!

Please, don't feel silly. I'll bet that was creepy!
I would have been frightened if I was home alone.

MomOf4, I think the emails from yourself are from someone who's hacked one of your email accounts. I sometimes get emails from my sister for ads that she's never sent. The hacker sends them from email accounts she no longer uses that they've somehow managed to hack into.
The phone calls are a bit creepier. When Fortune talked about checking the phone upstairs, I was reminded of that movie (don't remember the name) about the babysitter who kept getting weird calls that were coming from inside the house.

Think it some kind of phone number spoofing. I googled it. Its such a shame we have to put up with stuff like this.

That never happened to me but 11 years ago when we first moved here, I got some calls, a man - sounded foreign, who kept asking for my husband, and being he was working nights, I just asked what he wanted, he said this is just a courtesy call and wouldn't say. So we hung up and he'd call again a different day, same thing, and again, and when he called 5 times in a day, and the last call my husband was home and I gave him the phone, he (that man) hung up!! So I called the Telephone Co. who called a cop who traced the call, and I never got anymore of those calls. One day the cop came over to ask if I've been bothered anymore and I hadn't. Thank Goodness because I sure was getting scared!
