Less competition for travels when companies do this, but this is how American businesses do things......

Spirit Airlines shareholders voted Wednesday to approve a merger with rival JetBlue Airways, a deal that would create the nation’s fifth-largest carrier.

Executives at the two airlines said they hope to conclude the regulatory process and close the deal in the first half of 2024.

Re: Spirit and JetBlue to Merge

These two budget, low frills airlines offer travelers a cheap way to fly, but there are always risks (one flight a day sometimes) and plenty of add-on fees.

If one is flexible, patient and can put up with potential changes, then it is worth it to select them.

Cheap airlines have come and gone throughout travel history--I used to take People Express every once in a while when young, and we paid in cash on board, just like a bus.  It was always a mad scramble to get on the plane as seats were not reserved.

I have flown Frontier a few times, but that was before the pandemic.

For more reliable travel the major carriers are a better choice, although a bit more costly.

I have flown on Jet Blue airlines twice and both experiences were fine.

You could not pay me fly Spirit Airlines, although my hairdresser flies them all of the time. I have heard too many horror stories about Spirit Airlines.

As stated above stick to the major carriers although you will pay more.

Anyone boarding an aluminimum metal tube with Covid running rampant has a hole in their head. I don't care who owns the plane. Recirculated air seems like a breeding ground for the scourge.

Spirit - worst ever flying -  or should I say non-flying experience.   I'm amazed they survived even this long.

I don't have my own experience with Jet Blue, but I'm hoping the merger will bring improvements for both lines.

Re: Spirit and JetBlue to Merge

We have flown Jet Blue several times and were satisfied with their service.
