So I currently have Spectrum internet, the  app on my smart TV's and my landline phone. I returned a cable box that I haven't used for several years after they increased my bill and when I called to verify they received the box they told me I have to change my plan and select up to 15 channels not including the local channels. My bill will be going down about 30 dollars over the next few months. Now a friend says she loves Sling TV and gets a lot more channels for less costs. If I drop Spectrum I have to give up my landline phone and I'm not sure I want to do that (I'm old school) I do have a Iphone. Opinions on Sling TV please. Did you switch from Spectrum ? benefits of the change? bill ? more channels? My daughter says I should switch to sling (she's of the younger generation and prefers her cell phone over the landline)

I had TWC before it became Spectrum.  I couldn't wait to get rid of them and go to Fios.  If you are not in a contract with Spectrum, why can't you just pay for phone and internet?  Don't they have bundles?

I have nothing to offer with Sling, but I wanted to add that you can still keep your internet with Spectrum and just use streaming services.  People who stream get internet service from somewhere, right?

I guess if you don't want to give up your landline phone, you may still want to stay with spectrum.

I had Sling for months because I wanted Diagnosis Murder, Murder She Wrote and HGTV. You can also get some news there. However there are many free streaming services that offer many of these. Sling with these extra channels I chose ended up being $40/month. That is a lot for a streaming service. You can get so many things to watch with free streaming services. Roku, Peacock, so many.

Our son and his family just switched to Sling. He also encouraged us to try Sling in our travel RV. We bought a Kindle Fire Stick to attach to our RV television which was necessary. It plugs into the back of the t.v. We then just purchased a Sling package. We were amazed at how many channels were included in the Sling package. All the major cable news networks were included in the basic package (we watch news much of the time). My husband bought a ESPN+ package addition, so he could watch college football. We have Spectrum in our home but are in the process of getting rid of it and only paying for the internet with them. We think that Sling is a great value. You can pull up the packages for Sling on-line and take a look at the pricing and their offerings.

We had Adelphia, which turned into TWC which turned into Spectrum.  We had a bundle of landline, internet and cable.  Of course the prices went up all the time.  We only had our landline for so long because it would have cost us more to drop it because we would have lost our bundle discount.

About 2 or 3 years ago, we dropped Spectrum cable and went to streaming.  We did a lot of research trying to find a package to suit our needs and give us the channels that were must haves for us.  We have high speed internet through Spectrum which is a must for streaming.  Still, our monthly fee continues to increase every couple of months.

We are now paying just under $123.00 for our streaming package and high speed internet. We get very few channels. The bulk of our bill is the internet.

Really need to look at what channels you watch.  Just because they give you more channels does not necessarily mean it will give you what you want to watch.

Yes, cable companies are shifting more of their fees to the internet side of the business.  It makes sense, with people choosing to stream rather than use cable.  But it really ought to be regulated as a public utility.

I tried Sling for a couple of years and was underwhelmed with it.  I switched to YouTubeTV and have been much happier with it.

I call myself a cord cutter with a cable package. I watch a few  shows on a TV, and I stream everything else to a tablet.

There are three live TV streaming services, Hulu Live TV, YouTube TV, and Sling TV. You can decide which service will work.

Let's not forget about Disney+, Paramount+, Netflix and HBO MAX.

I have Netflix, canceled Disney because just to much of the childrens shows, my grandson likes to watch Nickolodeon or the childrens shows on Youtube so I have that. I am going to give it some thought as to which provider I will select. I received some good advice from everyone, Thanks
