I'm so glad some of you got to see it!

It was overcast here, which the weatherman announced sadly. Probably some people further inland got to see it. If they sent photos to ABC local I'll post them here.

Jules: Mars. It was shining a silvery red in my area. Plus the star Spica (sp) was just below the moon I think.

Yep, seems it was Mars, and Spica was the tiny blueish star next to it. It was truly fascinating.... so strange to look at it and think we have put men up there. It looks so close but is so far away.... so many possibilities of what "WE" can do.

Thanks Noel for that link. Anika, I am sorry you had bad weather and couldn't see it. I usually miss all the meteor showers, and I would have even missed viewing the blood moon last night if someone hadn't reminded me. We just happened to have nice clear skies, and it was an awesome sight.

It was April 15th. The early morning of the 15th. I'm not picking at you; it's common for people to associate the date with the night instead of the wee early hours.

You can catch another one in October.

Ah, yes, I see in Noel's OP that it was 'just after midnight on April 15'.

I obviously misunderstood as I thought I originally read (elsewhere) around that time, but in East Coast time and I'm in Pacific time.

I stayed up late and saw the blood moon. Here in Northern California it was very clear and visible. But it was more a pink moon than a red moon. Great to moon watch on a spring night.
