I bought a new dell a few weeks ago. I really haven't used it much because I wasn't as excited as I thought I would be. I love the free printer that came with it. But I miss some of the features that came with my old computer like the back lit keyboard. It does have more memory and mega bites but I wish I had bought an apple.

I had been mulling it over in my mind the past week or so and I decided to give it to my grandson for his birthday in April. He will be 8. I know he will be monitored so I am not worried about that. And he will not have access to the internet until he is much older. He has been taking computer classes since kindergarten and in 2nd grade has won a lot of awards for his power point presentations, and his artwork from using windows photo shop.

When I brought this up with some of my friends they were shocked that I was planning to do this. They felt that he was too young, and that he would ruin it, or he wouldn't appreciate such a gift and I was spoiling him. One of them suggested that if I didn't like it, I should give it to her.{#emotions_dlg.confused1}

First of all, not all kids, even 8 year olds are destructive. I believe this gift is an investment in his future. And it just cost a little bit more than a video game console and a couple games and the remotes needed to play the games. That I know a lot of grandparents have purchased for their grandkids. And which one is the best investment in the long run?
