Yes. One of my goldens. We were attached at the hip. We went almost everywhere together, even if it was just out the door to check the mailbox. She was my baby. I still miss her terribly after all these years. ![]()

I feel my dog Halo was my soul-mate I lost her in 2022 just shy of her 14th birthday. I loved Halo, she was tuned into my emotions, always by my side when I was sick. The way she looked at me said it all. She was absolutely the best and I was shattered when I had to let her go.
She was with me through most of the worst times of my life. Always with me.
I love all of my others, but Halo had the depth of emotion to understand me.

We said good-bye to my soulmate kitty just two weeks ago. We've had several cats & dogs over our 50-year marriage, and loved every single one of them. But Poppy was special to me...
We visited a foster home to look at a kitten I saw on the rescue's website--really cute little black & white girl named Cindy. We were actually looking for a companion for 3 year old Charlie, our very lonely boy cat. Well, Cindy wanted nothing to do with us! Since the foster had a houseful, we started looking at her other kittens (HAD to be a kitten, as Charlie did not like other adult cats--his foster had to keep him in her "kitten room").
Anway, the lady finally plopped the absolutely ugliest little 3 m/o tabby into my arms. We looked into each others eyes, Poppy said "take me home, Mama!"...and I did.
I think she literally saved Charlie's life. He "mothered" her--bathed her, watched over her, let her do anything she wanted to him. They were constant companions until Charlie died. But when she wanted human company, she was all mine! Poppy grew into a beautiful girl, and kept her incredibly large, clear green/gold eyes for her entire 18 years. I miss her every day!

@Bonkers1 We're in the process of thinking about a buddy for Molly (and us when she passes...13 yrs. old). I know we can walk the new older dog now, but they usually out live the owners when we'd adopt at this age. Big decision!!

What a wonderful story you have to tell. I will never know why one of our animals tears at our heart strings although we love them all.

I can certainly appreciate your situation. One of my dogs Atlanta is a one person dog and not very friendly. I often wonder where she will go when I pass. Good luck with your decision.

@Bonkers1 Aww thank you, your comment made me tear up. She was perfect in my eyes. The best dog ever, a mix of beauty, smart, sassy, and loving.
I have an new Sheltie, Cindy, who I love, love, love, but no dog has been able to read me like Halo. She was an angel from Heaven. Here is a photo of Cindy, she is starting to read my emotions like Halo did. I love her so much too. Cindy was born in December of 2023..
