Re: Sometimes I'm surprised by regional differences

a 45 minute drive is really nothing for me. i live in the baltimore area. the nice thing about where i live.....i can be in four states and DC in generally  about an hour or so.

a 2.5 to 3 hour drive to the delmarva beaches is nothing. we do it frequently, even in the off season. it can be an extended stay OR a friday night to sunday night quick getaway.

Re: Sometimes I'm surprised by regional differences

I don't think it is so much a regional issue as it is the difference between, urban, suburban and rural dwellers.

I am an urban dweller and could probably live within a 5-mile radius of my home if I had to with access to everything I need to survive--medical/hospital facilities, restaurants, shopping, theater, many grocery stores and the cherry on top is 3 lakes. I am very happy in my bubble!

I wonder if rural dwellers ever fear something happening to them or a loved one where they are so far from medical facilities that it could be a matter of life or death.

Except I can’t do the heat. I already hate summer here. My next move will be somewhere farther north. I’m a cold weather girl at heart and always have been.

Welcome to Seattle! I've lived in New York, San Diego, Los Angeles and I must say Seattle is my favorite. Grew up in LA which is essentially desert--and San Diego's even worse--so I got my quota of hot, dry weather and don't plan to live anywhere like those places, ever again.

@katie1859 that's my issue too. I don't mind the distance but the traffic and issues on the highways affect me more now that I am older.  When I was younger, I wouldn't have blinked at it.
