Other than Elvis-on-Velvet stuff "back in the day" the only thing I've ever seen sold from a truck around here is Gulf Shrimp or tacos! Oh and ice cream of course! LOL!!

Yes, I've seen this in southern CA and the south, too.

Near the holidays, all sorts of folks are doing this n that to pull in a few dollars.
We have had men knock on the door with bags of manure in their trucks, wanting to put it on the lawn for us for X amount of money.
A truck would scare me. How do you know the truck wasn't there to haul off your things while you were kept in a back room unable to call the police.
Various goods get peddled around now. One must use caution even opening your door to answer the knock.
Maybe an inter-com would help.

Some people say it is a scam because the furniture is way overpriced (they claim it is worth more than it is) and some people who have bought from them are happy. I had just never heard of this and was very skeptical.
Yes, they come from North Carolina. We were told the same thing. We have a lot of law enforcement that live in our area... The guy down the block told me he bought a few things from them and everything is fine. I guess if cops buy from them, it has to be legit.
Lo surely this is tongue in cheek?

It seems I have people at my door all the time selling services or items. I keep my screen door (front and back) locked all the time. So even if I open door, the screen door - between me and person at the door - is locked! There are just too many dangerous people wandering around...

If someone is just selling goods from a truck parked in a public place that's one thing. But I would not answer my door to someone knocking with stuff to sell. No sir.
You might end up in the truck.

Then pretty soon you'll be told to
"It puts the lotion in the basket!"
ala Jame Gumb. Just sayin...
