ONe of my FB friends posted about something that happened to her young daughter that just rubbed me the wrong way so please know, I am just venting but it irked me.

Her daughter is in first grade. Her first grade teacher brought in a bunny rabbit, for Easter, for the kids to be able to check out for a day or two to learn how to care for a pet. Each child, who wanted to, got to take a turn. When this was over, the teacher had a raffle (With parent's permission) and they put the name of each child who was participating in a hat and drew the name of a child who would win the rabbit to take home for a pet.

My FB friend was furious because her daughter didn't win the rabbit and her daughter came home craying. This mother ranted and complained about the teacher and called her on FB all kinds of names saying they should never have had such a contest because children were bound to get hurt.

First off, this was voluntary and each parent knew the rules before agreeing to it. Second off, I thought this was a great learning experience to teach kids that there are winners and there are losers and this is going to happen ALL through life.

When I was in elementary school, every year at the school fair, we had a cake walk. I usually didn't win but one year I won six cupcakes and I was OVER the moon. I learned sometimes you lose, sometimes you win but I got over it.

Oh my graciousness, what is wrong with parents nowdays? (not all, I know some are awesome). Kids are going to be picked last for a team or not win a raffle or not get invited to a party. Guess what? THIS IS LIFE. They will be ok. They will get over it. In the meantime, some of these parents NEED TO GROW UP.

Thank you, I am done venting..
