@Deree- I agree and that's exactly the kind of person who will tell you to lighten up, that you're taking it too seriously.  Either block that person on FB or tell her outright that you find it offensive.  (Or both.)  You don't need that in your life.

Personally I'm not one for any kind of humor at a time like this but I guess I understand those people who find that it helps them cope better.  Maybe laughing takes their minds off of it.  Maybe it's nervous laughter.

However I just saw a post on FB by one of my FB friends.  The top section had a visual of a coffin being carried out with a caption about how Italy can't cremate the dead quickly enough.  The bottom section had a visual of a fluffy German "muppet" type puppet with big round eyes.

I was shocked and horrified.  In what world is this type of humor okay? Especially under the current (and past) circumstances?  Please be careful about the types of "jokes" you post. SMDH and just wanted to vent about it.

@Deree

Im not finding the kind of stuff your posting about here on this forum, I think the Mods would delete it.....the humor here is lighthearted and a nice reprise...

Maybe stepping away from social media for a time is your answer

@Spurt  You didn't understand my OP.  Please re-read.

@Deree- It's sick "humor", but I'm afraid there will always be people who think something like that is funny.  And, if you don't agree, they'll say "Lighten up"!

It won't be so funny, when it affects them or someone they love.  I also SMH.

I don't know how poking fun at horrific events like the Holocaust and what will be known as Italy's horrific death event is something to lighten up about.  I would expect this kind of humor from the lowliest and most racist and insensitive person.

then why not tell that friend or acquaintance on facebook instead of bringing it here?

@lovescats  If you read the thread you would know that I did and that she has not responded.  Why bring it here?  Are you bent out of shape because of it?  If so I am sorry.

ETA:  Regardless do you think lots of people "bring it here" just to vent?

why would I be bent out of shape? don't make yourself that important.    facebook would have been the place to vent   Don't post if you don't want responses you don't like

I said "bent out of shape" because a couple of people seem to be irritated that I "brought it here."

Who are you (believe it or not I'm not being snarky) to decide where I 'm supposed to vent?

Are other people allowed to vent here with various stories and complaints?

What exactly is your beef with my bringing it here?

I have read some of the posts thought to be funny concerning the coronavirus.  I am from a family that loves to laugh but something just does not set right with me on some of these posts.  I think some people are wound up so tight that they feel they need to lighten up and this is the way they choose to do it.....BUT......  What if someone here loses a loved one to this virus.  Likely, there may be some of us who die from this. I realize that is a sobering thought but, imo, we should think about that before we post jokes about it.

Lighten up.  Obviously, some found it funny.  You didn't and that's ok. I probably wouldn't either since dark jokes/memes aren't have never been my thing.  Perhaps your friend was in a darker mood when posting it.  It's not a big deal.
