@OneHappyHiker - I agree that it's not a positive change for the customer.  It definitely shouldn't show as available, if the instant you add it to your cart you get the sold out message.

The only tip I can give you for being able to keep track of things is to add any item you like to your wishlist.  That way, even if sells out, it will stll show there and you'll be able to see if it comes back into stock.  I do that all the time and it also reflects if the price has changed.

@Venezia Thank you! I haven't used that wish list feature the old way but now I will! That will make it much easier to keep track of items!

No, it doesn't say SOLD OUT the instant you add it to your cart,  like the old way it didn't even let you add it to your cart.  It doesn't even tell you it's sold out until you click on the CHECK OUT!! So we think we have it because it's in our cart... go to check out but BAM! It's gone! Considering that's only what a second or two? That means it was already sold out but not telling us until we hit check out. Frustrating lol.

It's like a slap in the face.  Now I'm afraid to hit checkout ... I hold my breath.

I just had that happen so I tried again and it worked, wierd.

@spumoni99 That's why I kept trying for my biscuits the other day, for about ten minutes haha. When you are lucky as you were, CS explained that's because inventory had to catch up with actual sales. At first it thinks there are no more items, then it all syncs and there are still items for sale. If inventory was low, it all had to catch up before you could put your order through.

My biscuits showed available for a good thirty minutes after I couldn't even buy them. CS said there are glitches all the time, that was one, because their system didn't catch up to the actual inventory. Then as we were chatting, it all caught up and only one choice I didn't want was available. All others were no longer listed.

Good job! Always try and try again because, like you saw, sometimes you get lucky!

@rms1954 LOL Not only do I feel your pain.... CS and I were chatting up a storm discussing the various features of this new PAIN IN THE NECK change and I know SHE would also feel your pain! Oh gosh, I wish she were in charge of the computers because it would never have changed. It is stressful because I don't like pressure purchasing, then if you buy it many times within a quick period of time you can't even cancel it. I gotta agree... those darn biscuits did make me a little anxious lol. They are for my husband so they better be worth it!Smiley Wink

It has been the case since November or December that you don't see "Sold Out" on an item until you start to check out. Really annoying.

Is that really a bad thing?  Ok.  It's a tiny change.  But sold out is still sold out.  There are going to be changes as things progress so all should accept that and just go with the flow because the changes will happen whether we like it or not.

Same thing happened to me yesterday on a purse.  This wasn't a recently aired item or even on sale.  So it wasn't a fast selling item where inventory would have trouble keeping up with sales.

I selected a color and added to cart.  This was the only thing I wanted so I immediately went to check out and got the same unavailable/sold out message as the initial poster.  Tried again.  Same result.  Tried with another color that also showed on the item page and same result.

I'm not a frequent shopper but I thought as colors of items sold out they disappeared from the page or had a slash throught that color/size or a dotted line that said 'waitlist'.

Used to be that when you tried to add an item to your cart that was sold out it would tell you immediately "sorry this item is sold out."  Now it lets you add it to your cart (believing it's available) and when you hit check out you get a picture of the item and it says "unavailable items "sold out" and it removes it from your cart.

@rms1954  Yes, I had that happen the other day when I was trying to buy a pair of pants. It showed they were available, I put them in my cart, went to check out....sorry...sold out. They still showed as available, but they were gone. It was annoying to add items to a cart, and presto.....they're sold out.
