@SeaMaiden We looked into it for our home in MD and here in Florida (briefly). Bottom line, we chose not to after spending a lot of time researching it. That said, our concerns may not be yours so I tell people to research:
1) your state and any incentives/regulations regarding solar
2) Your power Company regarding power usage, refunds (yes or no), storage of power, etc
3) look into how panels are "purchased". Our issue was that if we installed them (leased not purchased) then needed to sell our home, the buyer may not wish to take on the lease/expense of maintaining both the roof and panels. Once the panels come off, the roof is now damaged so you need a new roof. There is quite a bit they don't tell you in the sales pitch of solar panels.
4) the overall cost. It's a LOT.
These are just the basic info/questions; we went into far more detail based on where we lived/live. Florida is pushing it like crazy but.....no way, NO WAY would we do it here. Each state has it's own concerns/rules, etc so we tell people to look at their state and not general information.
In the end, spend the time looking into all aspects and I'm sure you'll make the best decision for your needs. ![]()
