So please don't assume to speak for all of us.  You're doing a pretty good job of shaming those who don't agree with you, based on your own uninformed opinion.

I doubt you know what's in "the strangers" hearts and minds.  And you don't know what other forums/activities/whatever that they may participate in.  You don't know their own personal experiences.

You may want to examine your own attitude towards others.

I admit to disliking that commercial, too.  (Thank heavens for fast-forward.)

It wouldn't be so bad, if he was wearing a bathing suit that actually fit him.

And I don't go around body-shaming anyone, but I also don't subscribe to the current acceptance that being morbidly overweight is healthy.  It's not.

There's currently a commercial with some large woman with diabetes dancing around about some drug that's made her feel great.  And all I can think is "You'd be even better - and healthier - if you lost a lot of that weight."

We should still, as a society and with kindness, be trying to help people become fitter, not normalizing obesity.  JMHO.

Amen @Venezia, I know exactly the ad you reference and every time I see it I cringe.

@Venezia  And the reason I cringe is because I'm tired of some dipstick on Madison Avenue deciding we all need to educated. So very trite pushing this image of the hip, together woman who just happens to be heavy (wink wink) dancing and prancing around, flaunting her change in outfits as she becomes a whole new woman because of this particular drug. What a shame it's come to this. Were I interested in this medicine, I'd just as soon someone calmly explain its benefits rather than have this large woman flitting around trying to make a series of points, all of which pretty much fall flat.

IF they actually cared about anyone's health they would also care about the person's mental health & they would be kinder.

IF they actually cared about anyone's health they would also be on sports/dirt bike forums & saying mean things about those activities.

No one wants to be fat. No one, that is fat, needs anyone to tell them there are ways to lose fat. No one that is fat needs people on the internet explaining how unhealthy they are. No one needs people hiding behind that excuse for why they feel the need to be mean.

Okay. You don't like to look at fat people. We get it. But fat people are out there living their lives. That is all.

They are not hurting you. They are not encouraging you to join them in being fat.

They just want to be on the beach with coconut drinks & have you sit up on your pedastal & enjoy your own world.

Since the stats are 2/3 of Americans are either overweight or morbidly obese, I suspect most of the people "shaming" others is coming from other obese individuals unhappy with their own weight gain @Dusty1 .And since 98% of people who go on diets just regain the weight back, clearly no one has it easy regarding maintaining a healthy weight. And please.. if you are sensitive to criticism, any forum like this is disastrous. You can preach about being inclusive but it falls on deaf ears. Sadly.🥺

I believe that when a poster is making negative comments or judgments on another's appearance, they should be required to post a picture of themselves (or spouse if complaining about the opposite sex).

@Venezia I didn't say that...it was @Dusty1. I merely replied to her that it was "well said". For what it's worth, I agree with her...the anoynimity of the internet allows people to say things that most of them would never say in person.

Edited to add: I do find most on this forum to be kind, and supportive. It's just when the issue of weight comes up (and I am overweight myself), someone ALWAYs has to jump in with the "everyone is trying to make obesity into a non-issue when it comes to health", that "everyone is saying it's OK to be overweight". It's NOT ok, not in the least, but like I said in another post, no one should be made to feel "less" because of their body issues. We know we are overweight, we know it's not good for us, we know we should do something about it, but sometimes the never-ending struggle wears us down.

I'm really sorry that you thought I think that all posters are mean and uncaring...I sure didn't intend that.

One of the greatest accomplishments in TV advertising is  viewers talking about their commercial.

The creators of this ad obviously accomplished the goal.

@Mersha - They're not really accomplishing their goal, because I can't tell you what product they're advertising.

All I remember is the red speedo on the wrong person!

I was a casting director for over 1000 television comnercials. Unless the consumer remembers the PRODUCT it is not considered successful and of course sales...I know the commercial you are talking about, have no memory of the product its selling.

Get real. I've seen numerous hateful and mean comments about various hosts. Just yesterday comments about Kerstin called her " flat chested" and " disgusting. " I reported it to the mods. It was removed. This forum is loaded with ladies who love to criticize the hosts.  Daily. They have nothing better to do.

I've edited my previous post now, but where it's been quoted by others, I can't change it.

Well of course you do... That is absolutely the role of a discussion board...

For the record, my S.O. (not spouse) is of the opposite sex, but one might assume someone with your finely honed degree of sensitivity would have recognized that not all spouses are, and made an accommodation in your lofty suggestion...
