We're going to be in Hilton Head soon, and I don't go in the water.

I love the beach, but I'll swim in the pool.  LOL

When shark week happens on tv we here more about shark attacks. They are not trolling for humans - they are seeking out food. A sharks life consists of seeking food. I live by the ocean and have seen Dolphins - no seals. It is their home and we should respect it - swim in an area with a LG, don't swim dusk or dawn, never swim alone. BTW the toons are great.

I'm on the west coast and didn't know Hilton Head so I Googled it. It looks so pretty and I read it has "southern charm."  Looks like a great place! Man Happy

Sharks unlike dolphins have to continuously move in the water or else they die.

Yes, the water is warm and Yes there is too much bait.  Of course sharks will look for food and attack.  Why on earth would anyone choose to go into the water given the recent attacks. For sure I woldn't and I would not ever have allowed my children in the water with this gong on.

I agree w the fact that the warmer water temperatures along the coast attracts seals, which attract sharks.

The sharks don't attack really....they sense a foreign object (us) in their territory and think it could be Food.

They then take a taste and realize humans don't taste particularly good...and they move on.

The ocean is THEIR home, we are the intruders, they have a right to defend their families also...

When they eat someone's arm or leg, I doubt the victim feels better knowing it was an "accident" on the part of the shark!!!

I agree. There has been several sightings here. I love the beach, but I am staying away for a while.
