Fortunately many have numerous other channels from which to choose. I personally prefer watching only programs I DVR. Why? I only record programs I like and intend to watch.
No guessing/no surprises, and "Vwhalla! I can watch them at my convenience, not a time chosen by channel or network. Leaves me pretty much unable to rightfully complain, hey, I picked 'em !!

I do the same thing, @hckynut. I have AT&T and all I have to do is push a button. One thing you left out of how great this is, FF commercials!

I find the three channels competing for my attention on the landing page to be so busy to my eye and brain that it becomes overwhelming at times. Maybe others like this format, but I find it too easy to click on the "wrong" tab on my smaller devices. I keep having to hit the back button.

At some point on Sunday they did a "picture in picture" thing...showing Q2 (I guess) in a little square of the Q picture.
I was not amused.

Isn't that great? I think many think a DVR, or other time shifting device, is too complicated, thus they use little if any of the features.
It is so time saving to be able to watch a 1 hour show in just a tick over 40 minutes. I would think those with limited time for watching TV, would find that feature to be one of the best.
Glad you added that to my list of why I have owned, and used, time shifting devices since the first VCR I bought in in 1960's. Referee in a lot of hockey games after I got off work, and there were some shows I was glad to still be able to do both, watch my favorite TV shows, and Referee some hockey games. All thanks to those things called "time shifting devices". Great technology!
Take care now,
