I found a recipe online for removing dog urine odor and stains on carpet. Very simple and basic - vinegar, water, baking soda & 1 tsp dish lotion.
I poured the vinegar/water solution on the carpet as directed last Saturday morning and the carpet is still wet!!! No where was it mentioned that the process would take days.
I had a guest over yesterday as planned a few weeks ago and couldn't vacuum because the carpet was still wet. I placed a chair over the spot which is almost as you enter through the front door. Awkward and embarrassing. I had to explain why to my guest.
Two days into this nightmare, I went back online to see if I had done this right and yes, I had. While at the website, I noticed a product which has in excess of 700 5-star reviews which must work wonders.
I contacted them and was told that now I have to wait until the carpet dries, pour hot water over the spot and use my carpet cleaner to dry vac it until the water is clear. Wait another few days, and then take the chance that the organic stuff I saw will work.
Moral of the story: sometimes it's just best to go the easy, organic route. If only the product would have popped up the first time I checked into this.
