Thanks for your concern @shy bobcat, I'm OK just really uncomfortable. I'm taking myself out to lunch for a break, an air conditioned car & restaurant...sweet relief

The "feels like" temp is suppose to be 107 degrees here in my part of southern Maine.  Not what we are used to at all.  Don't like it.  Very unhealthful for people.  I'm one that finds it difficult to breath with temps like this.   Staying indoors with the AC, eating light and drinking lots of water and juices.

I'm sure all the tourists are loving it.  Here the beaches in town were already packed in the morning.  No thanks. Too hot for me even at the beach.

Due to various factors of aging, in general, seniors have more difficulty in regulating their body's internal temperature.

So, it's understandable why some people don't like extreme heat, some don't like extreme cold, & some don't like either extreme temp.

And, extreme heat causes the most deaths in the US due to a weather condition. 207 American lives were lost in 2023 due to extreme heat. That was followed by 103 lives lost the same year due to fire weather conditions.

I dislike extreme heat. It's difficult to do even simple tasks in extreme heat, & it was a reason for me to move from the desert west coast to the east`.

My personal favorite temps are 60's during the day & 40's at night.  : )

It hit 100 here today. I'm retired, I made the choice to stay inside in the AC today. My original plan was to do some grocery shopping at Walmart but it was too hot, I ordered through the app and had it delivered.

I envy people who love the heat and can tolerate it!  I get physically sick from the heat and the sun if I am out in it for more than a few minutes.  My ideal temp. is like 72-74!!!  And low humidty!  High humidity is just the worst!  However, when I go in stores and restaurants, it's usually very, very cold - so, I always have a light sweater or jacket with me.

The temperature is supposed to be 98 here in North GA. I don't even want to know the heat index. This heat is a killer. My heart goes out to those who don't have A/C and those who work outside.

The good news is that we should get a break in the heat by the weekend.

Had to go out yesterday for two appointments and I was melting when I came home. Thank goodness for air  conditioning

When I'm out and about in the summer, my skin can feel the cool AC in a shop or restaurant, it's my insides that are boiling Smiley Surprised  It's awful.  A couple of winters ago I noticed I wasn't enjoying the cold as much as I usually do.  I thought GREAT!  My insides are changing and now all I have to do is wrap up in a blanket or wear a coat and I can enjoy summertime!  Uh, no.  Now I'm still super sensitive to heat and annoyingly sensitive to the cold.

@monicakm

I kind of know what your'e saying!  I thought I was over hot flashes eons ago but in recent months I sort of have these surges of heat that are like you said --- heat from within!  Similar to when I had hot flashes a long time ago -- very unpleasant!  Then, immediately afterwards I get cold!  I find now that I am old -- or older - however you want to say it --- I can no longer tolerate extremes in either hot or cold!  Ugh!  What a mess!!!!

@monicakm  I have no idea why you directed that post to me. I guess it's nice though that you also researched.

Having lived in the desert west, I'm familiar with many of heat's effects that we were cautioned about. Have a good day.
