@bcherry01  Sorry you are feeling bored or maybe lonely. I'm feeling kinda lonely today.  I agee with others that you can watch A Capitol 4th or Macy's fireworks. Or, there is Yankee Doodle Dandy on TBS. If you have Alexa, you can play patriotic music. But, also, you have come to these forums, so that is something. My children are not here either, and that is kind of lonely too. They are with their families hours away and in other states having parties. I sure do wish I were with them. I've been working on a family cookbook that keeps me busy, but it's not the same as being with them.

Awww.  I'm sorry you are lonley too.  We can be lonely together Smiley Happy  I appreciate the suggestions.  I found a movie on with Julia Roberts.  It's interesting but it's like watching Pretty Woman even though it's a different story.  Good luck with the cookbook.  Sounds like a nice project.

I too am alone today and do not mind it.  I can hear the fireworks as the town celebrates.  I don't have any interest in being at the site.  I am not a fireworks fan.  My one tradition on this day of Independence is watching Yankee Doodle Dandy which is on as I write.  I sing all the songs and love every minute of the movie.  This makes this date complete, simple but very enjoyable.

I hope good things come your way, bcherry01, watching your daughter's elderly dog is an act of kindness.  I wish you peace of mind and better times ahead!

My Dad loved that movie and James Cagney.  Lost him recently.  Tried to watch but all I could hear is his voice making his usual comments.

@bcherry01

I will say what I have repeated here many times over many years. I have never been bored in my very long adult life.

When my mind was broken, I used my body. When my body spent weeks and weeks in the hospital, unable to function, I worked my mind to keep from boredom.

Right now my wife is in another city working. Her business is Pet Sitting, and in her "charges" own homes. Me? I am here with our only kids, all 4 of which are furry and have 4 legs. 3 felines and 1 canine. Bored? Not on your life!

“Bored” and “quiet” sounds lovely not only to those of us who dread this time of year, but to those of us who are dealing with challenges. My twin sister has been dealing with additional health challenges (in addition to her epilepsy) for almost three months and is at a post acute facility on her “tour” to getting better. A quiet place may be boring but you wouldn’t want to trade places with me! I do commend you for watching your sister’s senior dog.

Hope your sister gets better soon.  Not meant to compete or measure who has it worse or trade situations.

It's my daughter's dog -- not sister's.  Praying and sending well wishes to all!!!!

I sincerely apologize to you @bcherry01. I was responding to your initial post and did not see the additional information about your situation. Lesson learned. God bless you and sending thoughts and prayers to you too. ❤️🙏💐

If you liked Downtown,  The Buccaneers,  a miniseries is free on YouTube in segments.

It's one of my favorite series and beautifully done!

Are you watching Sleeping with the Enemy? I really enjoy this movie. I watch it whenever I see it listed.
