Re: Snake Shish Kebab

[ Edited ]

@Kachina624  I have seen pictures of the new museum outside, but not inside.

Several times I have visited the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and their Egyptian exhibits. I have also gone to lectures

by Egyptologists at the museum. My sister in law and I were planning to go to a wonderful King Tut exhibit there, but covid came and that was cancelled.

The Museum of Science in Boston had a wonderful Ramses exhibit in the 90's and their gift shop has always been my go to for a lot of my Egyptian jewelry and decor. I've bought beautiful silk scarves and jewelry with Egyptian designs from the Museum of Fine Arts also.

I love watching documentaries about Egypt especially

with Ramy Romany and George Tsoukalos. I used to watch the ones with Zahi Hawass but he got very arrogant and I saw how rude he was to a female archeaologist. He seemed very misogynistic.

I will have to look online to find something on the new museum. For many years, my dream was to visit Egypt one day. I had a Fodors book about traveling to Egypt and was learning some basic Arabic. Before I married my second husband in 1992, I had a couple of Egyptian boyfriends and

was part of a community of Middle Eastern dancers in the Boston area. We had workshops with instructors from Egypt and Lebanon and I studied with several instructors for seven years. They were planning a group trip to Egypt and I would have loved to have gone with the other dancers.

By that time I had met my second husband and was planning

our wedding.

The way things have happened over the past years, I would not travel the Middle East. I'm too old for a trip like that now, but I like watching documentaries of people traveling there.

I think your rings are quite stunning. I don't mind snakes in jewelry and have a couple of pieces,  I have the same problem with my fingers and knuckles enlarging over the years even though my weight is about the same.  I remember Barbara Bixby talking about the symbolism of snakes in a positive way.

If my dog doesn't like you, neither do I.

I purchased these snake earrings from an Etsy vendor back in 2022 and they are one of my favorite pair of earrings

@cindyNC

Those are pretty earrings and a different kind of style. I like the pearl drops on them.

My Kenneth Jay Lane snake earrings are just in a large hoop shape. My other pair are smaller and in a figure eight shape and

have turquoise colored enamel over silver.

I just remembered, I have a Native American pair in silver. These are small and not three dimensional. They are flat with etched details and tiny turquoise eyes.

I would have a hard time choosing a favorite.

@Enufstuff  Love your snake shish kebab! Filene's and Lord & Taylor were such great stores! Such great selections of jewelry, fashion, handbags and more- its a shame that they went out of business. I bet your youngest daughter's wedding gown is so gorgeous! I bet she got a great deal on it too from Filene's.

I'm sure your jewelry box is filled with so many beautiful jewelry pieces! Your daughters, daughter in law and granddaughters must love your collection too! That is so kind of you to gift them all pieces from your jewelry box- I bet they treasure their gifts from you! 💗

@Sooner  Oh no!  I like snake jewelry, but I'm not that adventurous. I don't think that I would be tempted to try eating

any snakes or other unusual meats.

            Have you ever eaten that?

To me "snake shish kebab" was just a play on the words of

Zsa Zsa Gabor, describing her collection of rings.

@Enufstuff No but I have known people who participate in the hunts.  Never been to a festival, hunted snakes or eaten them.  I have done away with snakes!
