Boy, it's great to see all this tolerance so many of you demand for every other thing that people are or do in society today, but can't tolerate 'these' people.

Many here aren't saying the habit or act is disgusting, but the people are. How sad that some people expect others to tolerate their 'rights' choices, decisions, but can't offer that back to others.

Typical.

Funny everyone thinks making marijiana legal is ok though so I guess smoking pot is certainly socially acceptable-

You do know it comes in chocolate, right??  🤣

Medical marijuana helps many people.

You do know people smoke it and mainly for recreational use right?

Yeah, just like alcohol.  The majority of the country wants MJ legalized or at least decriminalized.

I thought you were concerned about smoke -not social justice here

People who use marijuana, including medical marijuana, couldn't actually care less whether anyone does or doesn't find them socially acceptable. They could be your doctor, your attorney, or the sweet lady who runs your local bakery. Or one day, perhaps a family member in horrible pain from cancer or with MS.

"Smoking pot" and the visuals that go with it is such an outdated way to look at cannabis use.

Marijuana used for medical purposes and recreational purposes are two different things.  Do not know anybody who has a problem with medical marijuana.  Those who choose to use it for recreational purposes either legally or illegally are a different story.  Lets not confuse the issue.

Someday, when scientists discover the center of the Universe....some people will be disappointed it is not them.

Yeah, a pastime is pretty much the same thing as a hobby but smoking is neither one.

No but its a vice or an addiction either way its something the participant generally enjoys I believe was the point

Some people enjoy inflicting pain on other people and/or animals.  Is that just a pastime, too?

Seriously? you got from smoking to that?

And for everyone asking why they throw butts out the window when was the last time you saw a car with an ashtray????

I'm not really sure how you would put it out anyplace else driving

Maybe ask a pothead -they smoke while driving too how do they save theirs??????????

So I gather you think that smokers should not be responsible for their refuse. Litter is litter. Perhaps smokers should carry ashtrays wherever they smoke. Like I mentioned earlier, it is disgusting to go to the beach when smokers consider all that sand to be their personal ashtray. If smokers wish to gain any respect, I think they should take some personal responsibility for their habit.

Seriously, smokers just think, "oh, ******, I have nowhere to throw my butt?  Guess I'll just throw it out the window then".

That just goes in the 'inconsiderate', 'rude', and 'disgusting' pile.

Rght up there with junkies and their needles I guess......or drunks and thier ****** bottles

litter is litter and  trash is trash

@No argument from me, @JobGirl..... but.... we're talking about smokers in this thread. That's the title of the OP.

yes, it can be defined easily as a hobby when you look at the definition.

i remember my grandfather and great uncles......all smoked and often liked to go to the corner bar on their way home from work . doing both was a "cheap pleasure." they didnt have money to do much else and that provided them with some satisfaction during the day. the same can be said these days with the cigar lounges, cigarette use, mj recreational use, and the hookah lounges. it can be considered a "social activity."

hob·by1
ˈhäbē/
noun
noun: hobby; plural noun: hobbies
  1. 1.
an activity done regularly in one's leisure time for pleasure.

Guess you can say the same thing about those fast food bags and beer cans along side the road.  Who wants trash in the car.

Sure, just toss it out the window!
