The only thing I'm going to say here is that when I was a kid and using a skateboard, NOBODY used them on sidewalks because of the cracks between blocks of concrete. We all used the street to do our skate boarding. To this day, I still see nobody using sidewalks to skate board. When the officer came out and stopped you, if this was a legitimate complaint by the boarder and he really got bite by your dog, that officer would have taken the dog with her that morning. I don't think you have anything to worry about. I doubt that the kid even saw a doctor for his so called bite. Since when does an officer write down notes of the incident on their hand? She didn't have a piece of paper? Something is very fishy about this. I wouldn't sit and lose sleep over this incident that's for sure. Hope everything works out in your favor.

Thank you for your kind words. I am really worried. My dog is 8 years old. He just stayed by my side when the officer was questioning me. He did not show any signs of aggression.

UPDATE:

Today, I was stopped by animal control while I was walking my dog. She questioned me about the skateboard incident. I told her what happened. She said my dog bite this boy. I asked her if she saw the bite and she said no it was another officer. I then said so the other officer saw the bite. I stumped her because she said she really did not know. She got my phone number, name and address. She said she would call me back on Monday with the report. She wrote everything down on her hand with a pen!!!! She also said that my dog would be quarantined for 10 days. She said I could not take him out of the house. I said I live in a condo and I need to walk my dog. She said to be careful about the skateboards. I asked her if there were no laws about skateboarding. She said no. I found it to be strange she had no report with her . I am going to ask for pictures of the bite. My dog jumped on him and pushed but did not bite. His pants were not torn and if my dog had bitten him he would have not continued skateboarding. I am very concerned about this incident.

Animal Control found you walking down the street?Did you already know the officer for her to pick you out on the street? & that does sound odd she made notes on her hand.

Are you sure this person was really from Animal Control? This whole thing sounds like a scam.

I'm used to skateboarders cruising down sidewalks. I always keep an ear open for them when I walk the dogs so can I move out of the way when they go by. Its a ritual so it doesn't bother me. What gets me are skateboarders who try to grab the back of your car so they can go down the hill faster… dangerous and stupid.

Animal Control wouldn't make notes on their hands. They have citation books they carry around. And stopping you in the street is weird. I would wonder if she really was from Animal Control.

I don't know what is more dangerous, dogs or skateboarders on the sidewalk-

But I may be prejudiced, because today as I was pulling out of my driveway for work,I saw this big dog alone, trotting down the street and into my driveway - I was thining, "That's odd, there are NEVER any loose dogs in my neighborhood" and THEN I realized it was a COYOTE! bushy tail and all..

Now this cannot be a good sign, since coyotes are nocturnal and this was broad daylight- sure hope it wasn't rabid..

I DO live next to a wash.. but hey, where are animal control when you really need them!?

A scam. Skateboarding is banned here on sidewalks, stores, parking lots, etc.

It sounds like a scam. A dog is placed in quarantine to see if it has rabies. Wouldn't AC simply ask for a rabies certificate? Quarantining a dog in home would place the owner in jeopardy if the dog did have rabies.

She got out of an Animal Control vehicle. She gave me her business card. She asked if my dog had his rabies shots and I told her all of his shots were up to date. She has not called me today. She knew about me and my dog because I walk him all the time. The young kid probably described my dog. I am still think something is not right. I don't know if she washed her hand and the information came off. This whole incident is strange. My dog just sat by my side as she was questioning me. If he was aggressive, he would have gone after her. I think she got the information to give to the young child's family. You know how sue crazy people are!!! I took my dog to the park today away from my area. The park is huge.

I did call the city today and she said they have no laws governing skateboards. The girl sounded like a deer in headlights---no knowledge. I went to the website and it states anyone operating a skateboard or roller skates must obey all the rules of the road. This includes but is not limited to pedestrian traffic, signs and signals, speed limits, stop signs and yield right-of way signs.

I want to thank all of you for your input. Needless to say, I am waiting for the other shoe to fall.
