Another observation: Kody seems like a dim bulb. I think the 4 women have a lot more on the ball than he does (even though they DID buy into this polygamy thing). He also seems quite passive-aggressive--"letting" his wives do what they want, then ragging on them for it.

And what are they doing spending $10K on a recommitment ceremony when they're arguing about how to pay for their kids' college educations? Am I missing something?

Im with everyone on the creep factor of Kody. I think it was the 1st or 2nd episode of this new season... they were shopping around for venues on this ceremony thing and they were explaining to the guy of the place that they were all married to him and pointed to Kody. And Kody was standing there with is chest puffed out and his fists on both sides of his waist like if he was superman. I was like ""wow! is this guy for real?""

Blech!

I found it really interesting, and very telling, how extremely sensitive they were about hearing each other have discussions with Kody.

They were very uncomfortable just being near one of them talking to him on the phone.

IMO, it just showed that they have to virtually NOT see, think, or hear about each other having a relationship with Kody ...because they would be riddled with jealousy if they had to actually face those things.

It's not natural for women to share a partner and, for me, this really proved it. They are living in total denial.

They try to cover up their unhappiness and jealousy but it's bubbling right under the surface.

Well said. The show started out with how the wives were this unique team: some raising babies, some working outside the home. Some cleaning, some cooking. Now, they are starting to look like a bunch of bitter cronies. Last week, Robyn couldn't even face the possibility, after learning from Tarot cards, that Kody may take another wife. So much for "believing in this lifestyle"...

I am finding Meri almost intolerable. Last season, it was her whining about the size of her home and the struggle with having another baby. This season, it's whining about her daughter leaving, STILL whining about a baby, and whining her relationship with her sister wives. She needs therapy.

They all do, especially Kody. But those women also need to figure out why they stay in this trainwreck situation. This isn't all there is in life for them. Eventually the kids will grow up, Kody will marry someone younger and prettier so he can keep cranking out the babies and have someone to control...and they'll be wondering how they came to this pass?

Better to spend $10,000 on therapy than some phony-baloney "ceremony".

ETA: Why do they need a "recommitment" ceremony? Are things so bad they have to FORCE themselves to stay committed?

I think the key is that the wives were all raised in a polygamous society. They were indoctrinated at a young age. In comparison to the men of their youth, Kody looks like an open minded cool dude. The only wife that could make it on her own is Janelle. That is why we like her better and why she is pulling away from the group.

I can't wait for this show to be over so that Janelle can sell her house, move far away from this group, go back into her profession and have a happy life.

The number of wives doesn't bother me as much as the number of children.

I was perplexed at a recent episode where Cody told Meri that he did not want to pursue any medical intervention for them having a baby, strongly demanding that they focus on not pursuing it. I thought this odd as in the first season when he and Meri were in Mexico, he asked if she wanted to pursue in-vitro? Now that Meri seems ready to investigate that option, he says no?

IMO, he's too emotionally involved with Robin. (Ick)
