We have had it in my husbands car that we bought in 2016.  Every March they bill me in the mail some ridiculous price like $299.99.  I call and explain that we hardly use the car now, and that I will only pay $99.00 a year PERIOD.  The last two times I called it worked out.  They add taxes and fee so it cost about $115 after that.

My son just had this happen.  He always renegotiates the rate.  It always starts with his threat to cancel, and they begin to make offers to keep him.

Way back when I had XM radio.  I had a pretty long commute and loved the old time radio shows.  I forget what I paid yearly, but I know it was nowhere near what they want today.  And, it was commercial free.  My husband recently bought a new car and got six months of Sirrius for free.  When it was time to re-up he declined.  Now there are commercials and he said it's just not worth what they want.  When Sirrius took over XM they dropped the old time radio shows so I had absolutely no interest.

I think when they brought on personalities like Oprah and Howard Stern they were paying them huge bucks yearly, and not getting the return they expected, so jacked up all subscriber rates.  Sad.

I think I might need to renegotiate my rate.

I have a very limited plan.  Even with that, I may  be paying too much

@Snowpuppy Boy, do I agree with you on the picks they are playing on the Holly channel. It's pretty awful.

As far as price, we just came off of a special 5 month rate of $29+ taxes and fees. I think we are going to give it a rest after the holidays because we just got a letter that states rates are going up aprrox 3-3.5% starting in January. We don't travel much so we will check back with them later on with a new price. Right now it's about $100 for 6 months.

Agree that you should turn down the first negotiated offer as the 2nd/3rd are uaually better.

I got a 5 mo. renewal for under $50/all fees included a month ago. One vehicle and Select package.

Gotta say the Holly channel this year sux!! I don't think they are paying royalties for better artists.

I stopped subscribing back in 2013 but decided to renew my subscription after getting a deal in my email for 1 year = 99.00 plus a free Echo Dot.   Not a bad deal IMO.

Thanks Sirius subscribers....As I suspected we are paying WAY TOO HIGH a price.  We got a card today saying our subscription has been renewed and that the credit card has already been charged.  I wanted to get some idea of what is normal and thanks to the wonderful ladies on the board, I'm finding it boils down to how hard you negotiate and we are being taken to the cleaners.  We are going to say we will cancel, and at our rates...I will cancel unless our rates are reduced at least by half.  Thank you so much for your feedback!

Sirius XM is very inconsistent with their pricing.

Even if your current subscription hasn't run it's course I would call to discuss pricing.

Last time I just said that I felt the price was way too high, the rep came back with a different price; I asked if that is as good as he could offer; he lowered it to $35 for 6 months. I then asked if we could do that for a year, he checked and came back and said "yes".

All in all it was pleasant and easy, I remember other times not as easy.

Paid over the phone with a CC ( he said that was non negotiable).

Hope this helps...

Well, I just called to renew as our subscription ends in Febuary.  They send me a bill in the mail as I pay by check.   I had to go through the rigamaroll bla bla bla.... ended up paying almost the same as last year... $18 more... no big deal.  I could hardly hear the CS person...and her accent was so bad I only caught every 5th word she spoke.

Last year I spoke with someone who could at least  speak clear English and I was much easier. I wonder if I was speaking to someone in India this time......

At least I do not have to do this again for another year.....
