Reminds me of the plot of Terminator 2 with Skynet trying to initiate a nuclear war.

Does anyone else here watch <em>"Person of Interest"</em> on television?

IMO the singularity is what that show is all about. We're devoted fans. At this point in the story, there are two major machines that have reached the point of singularity and are dueling it out with each other.

Fans here too. I haven't watched this season's episodes yet so..... Yes, two machines are battling it out; each was programmed by different individuals though. They, the machines, seem to have gone beyond what they were originally programmed to do.

Right, the good computer is leading the team at this point. They're in danger from the ending of last season and Samaritan's takeover.

I've always found it fascinating the way the machine contacts and "speaks to" Root. Is she out of her ever lovin' mind? How can she be when what she's told comes to pass? Or how the new identities were set up and the facial recognition of the group members was erased? Root did that on direction from the machine..... The machine "knew" and took action.

Yes, I got lost on that sub-plot with Root. I think her ear "cure" had something to do with that, so the machine could talk directly to her, but I'm not sure. She can also still get phone calls from it.

When you consider the size of the universe and the fact we (the earth and humans) are but a sand speck and we've just appeared on the scene (in the context of how long the universe has been around), I believe ANYTHING is possible.

After realizing how small and new we are, I've come to the conclusion that many more have gone before us and many more will come after- not necessarily on mother earth, which will soon lose the ability to sustain us.

And we'll understand it all when we die.

O/T

ical, I asked over on the "how many doctors do you have" thread why, according to you, the answer to that question is a datamining goldmine. We're all anonymous and no one is sharing doctor's names, although that is commonly done in medical social networks. Please share. Thanks.
