Anyone use this?  Pros?  Cons?

@MamaWick   We had this for one month but sent it back.

Pros: 

Very easy to set up.

The monthly fee for monitoring is very reasonable.

Cons:

The monitoring is outsourced.  At one point SS changed monitoring companies but didn't tell the customers.  Some were calling to report  false alarms but didn't reach the right monitoring service.

The door/window/motion sensors etc. are stick-on and we found that the ones for the doors tended to fall off.  It is nice not to have to drill into walls, etc. but the sticky side didn't always stick properly.

We have smoke alarms already but ordered an extra one that beeped all night.  Of course it could be returned but by now we were not happy overall anyway.

We did not have the newer outdoor camera so I cannot comment.

Overall this system seemed to be ok and perhaps they have improved on some of the above issues.

At the time there was a community chat site where you can view issues customers have but I believe you have to be a customer and cannot just browse.

For the deals they are offering right now it could be nice to try-it will not cost you for shipping and our refund was issued promptly.

A family member has it and is very happy with it.  Sorry, I don't know the details, but when they moved, they took the system with them.

I did not purchase SimpliSafe because I did not like the conical monitoring thing.  Instead I chose to purchase Cove.  It has the same basic set up but has a touch screen that will show you if a door/window is open and tell you which one.  It tells you when it is safe to arm or not.  All of this is printed on the screen so there's no wondering or trying to remember what that light is saying.  Oh, and you can set it to speak to you if you want. 

The screen looks like one of those echo shows so it's big enough to read.  They have cameras but I don't have one.  There is even a "hostage" code you can enter to turn off the alarm if someone is forcing you.  The monitoring company identifies it and sends help silently.  I really like this system.  Cove did arrange to install it in my home ($79 fee) since I can't get up on stepstools.  I have had it for several months and no problem with the sensors coming loose or any problems at all.

I have had SimpliSafe for 10+ years and like it. That's all I am, a customer. I have found it to be a very good system. I'm old & I was able to set it up myself, it's very simple and if you have trouble doing it you can always call CS and they will walk you through it. Just went on their site SimpliSafe dot com and they have the Black Friday offer extended through tomorrow, 50% off & free camera. I don't have their camera or doorbell. Otherwise I have probably 30 sensors because I have a large home that is spread out. If you want to try it you have 60 days with free return shipping, no questions asked. You buy whatever components/sensors you want or they have several packages with different components. I have the $14.99/mo monitoring which is fine for my needs. If you are a tech person & want everything done on your phone I believe it's $25/mo. There is no contract, quit anytime you want to. You can add sensors anytime you want more.
