I've never had significant weight gain while taking Prozac. I've been on it for nearly 17 years.

A few serious questions for you, no side effects? Is it still effective? Does your body crave it?

I honestly don't know about any side effects.... other than my friends and family can usually tell when I haven't taken it for a while. I can't drink any alcohol of any kind while I'm on it. I've done made that mistake too many times (It's bad is all I'm going to say).

I've been on 20 mg for so many years that I think it lost it's effectiveness a long time ago. That's my fault because it was first prescribed to me during my post partum depression and I went so long without seeing a psychiatrist. My family doctor just kept renewing my RX. Now that I have a psychiatrist, she has upped my Prozac to 40 mg per day and also added Wellbutren.

My body doesn't crave it. I don't believe it's addictive. My body only craves nicotine and Benadryl.

With any antidepressant one can not quit cold turkey but you have to ween off gradually because it affects your serotonin production. I m, also on BP meds and have not had any problems. As for long term effects on organs I can't tell you because I don't know. All I do know is that Prozac has been a lifesaver for me.

Thanks for sharing because I never hear about Prozac anymore.
