Silver sneakers and traveling

I am a member of the YMCA through the silver sneakers program, which is a medicare spoonsored program of the YMCA. So my medicare advantage insurance pays my dues to the YMCA 100% for me. Now this summer we are going to travel to the Pittsburgh area for 4 months so I will need to go to a YMCA or a gym during that time.I called the closest YMCA to our campground and they said I could be a silver sneakers member there for the summer - no problem but I would have to call my ins co and varify that they would be willing to pay for it. When I called the ins. co. the rep said "No problem. The ins. plan we have is designed to allow for it's members to travel."

So, since we seniors do love to spend our summers traveling I wanted to pass on this good news. You can travel AND stay in ship shape as well. Just be sure to call your ins carrier and verify with them if you decide to do this. One of the main reasons we chose United Health Plan Medicare Advantage Plan was that they allow for you to travel. So happy travels to all the senior citizens out there who are hitting the road. We have been saving for months to cover our traveling expenses - mostly the fuel costs.
