Re: Sigh. I Miss Shopping On the Q

I took a break from watching and ordering for 10 years came back about 5 years ago because of Kim Gravel so I blame her lol. Watching got me buying stuff I don't need so I'm now just watching her shows. I don't purchase every time she's on but enjoy her and her lively personality.
Their prices have become so expensive and with the S&H cost hits harder when you return an item.
I'm so happy I never got a Q card it would be to easy to get into debt.

Cherie I made a New Year's resolution no LUG for a year. Plus I got into debt big time because of the Q. I had to borrow money from my parents to pay it off. Now I gotta pay them back.

I think that is admirable that you took a look at your expenses and knew you had to cut back.  Lots of people don't do that and the debt keeps mounting.

All the best to you on your goal for being debt free.  Like they say one foot in front of the other.  Or as Yogi Berra said "If you don't know where you're going you might not get there".  Lol but good advice and sounds like you're on a good road  Smiley Happy

For me it's those darn EasyPays. A little bit here, a little bit there and then by the time the bill comes around...sock-it-to-me-baby! Yikes.

I totally get it @ShortyLugNut, I've bought quite a lot of Q stuff over the years as well. Fortunately am not into purses & jewelry but am into beauty & skincare. I've also purchased my share of food items which I feel guilty about as Q's food is pretty $$$!  Recently got the David's lemon scones and must say they are very good! Wanted to get the blueberry as well but were sold out by time I decided to order.

I've also purchased many food items from QVC.  I started thinking about local again and realized nothing can come close to the Chantilly Cake at Whole Foods.  Reasonably priced for a small cake and it beats spending $70 - 80 for QVC cake.

Another one is the shrimp tempura for $$$$ on the Q.  It looks like the same Sea-Pak tempura shrimp at our local King Sooper (Kroger) for about 1/5 the price.

Re: Sigh. I Miss Shopping On the Q

I was sitting on the front porch today when the Amazon Prime truck drove by. He didn't slow down, he didn't wave, he didn't even look my direction.  I thought I meant more to him than that.

It was sad.  But tomorrow I have two Amazon shipments. Nothing exciting though. Printer ink and Btotal liquid energy.

Are you Prime members making a list? Last year I bought a drone that is still in the box. This year I just have necessities in my cart, none of which I know for sure will be on sale.

Reason I told myself no more easy pays and it adds up.   So easy to do too.

I now owe nothing on easy pay or have a balance due either.   Took me awhile to get it down too but always paid my monthly balance due so that helped.  I never got behind but one day I just said this is ridiculous.  If I can't pay in one payment then I am not buying.

Re: Sigh. I Miss Shopping On the Q

I finally paid off my last easy pay. I went crazy in February and March with 5 EZ pays and my bill was over 300.00 a month not to mention HSN.
Both are paid off and now it's cash or I don't buy. I really think about need vs want now.

Re: Sigh. I Miss Shopping On the Q

  1. I, too, am buying way less. This past Ash Wednesday I gave up the Q for Lent. I took it off my streaming service and only went to the app to pay my EZ pays. I've paid them off and am Q free. I was surprised at how easy it was. After Easter I looked online but have purchased just two things, a pop-it storage shelf and a step stool. I have not seen even one tsv that has tempted me. The tsv selections are stale and the prices are not that different from the regular price. It used to be that even if the sale price wasn't that great they would include bonus items not available elsewhere. The fashions are repetitive and overpriced. I don't want or need a Dyson, VitaMix, Lumimara, etc. Their products are shopworn. Kinda sad, isn't it. I used to love to shop here. 🫤

I haven’t bought anything off qvc since December 31st 2023. Not buying any LUG has been the hardest. I still like to watch the shows though to torture myself.

I bow to you.  I want to do that so bad.  I do good for a while but then I buy one thing and then another, etc.  I'm going to keep trying though.  If I want to quit I can't watch or look at the website.  Sad thing is I really need nothing!

Re: Sigh. I Miss Shopping On the Q

@ShortyLugNut Do your shopping online instead of watching the Q.  Compare prices between QVC.com and other websites that offer the products that you want including LUG.
