There are a handful of posters who repeatedly define any disagreement as a personal attack.

Or as bullying or as merely 'calling out' what they define in another poster's comments as being not appropriate when what they really mean is not to their liking... There are some posters who seem to like to see themselves as grounded, confident and forward thinking,  and merely standing up for themselves, but who, upon reflection, seem to be looking for drama if not for a fight... Then there are some who are just plain classic cases of projection, who attribute every negative motive and behavior to others when they can't see that they're far more guilty themselves...

Great post @stevieb!

I'm gonna throw this in.  Don't be afraid to moderate yourself.  Speak up.  Don't wait for a Mod to do it for you.  If someone crosses the line with you, say something.  Nicely.

I had some real nonsense thrown at me yesterday.  Not the first time and won't be the last.  My response was not a similar attack but a firm that was not nice, you know it, and please find something more productive to do with yourself today. Two of them did and I really hope they found a way to have a better day.

I salute the Mods for letting a couple of those responses stand in my thread yesterday.  I was sure they would be removed and one was but the bulk of the back and forth is still there along with my polite please don't treat me like that responses.

I also believe in being absolutely ridiculous when I think someone is being a drama queen to try to derail the topic of a thread.  Not everyone can use humor to respond but, if you can, do.  It diffuses situations nicely and reminds us all that we really are here just to have a good time.  Most of us anyway.   Smiley WinkSmiley Happy

Bottom line, we all know we control only ourselves.  So do your own thing, stand up for yourself, take a break from this board for real life and always have a good time.

Posters who are complaining about shutting down threads are the same people who called other posters judgmental in the homeless thread.

This is an excellent example of an inflammatory post that takes threads down the path to deletion.

Bringing arguments from one thread to another. Attempting to get an argument started on a new thread. Calling out people who posted on a thread who had opinions different than you.

The pattern is readily identifiable when you see it over and over.

Excellent points @Ms tyrion2.

I remember an old thread about carryover or overlap from one thread to another.  Think it was Moonchilde's thread.

Good discussion.

Will anything or anyone change? Doubtful.
