@Still Raining  That's unfortunate you feel that way because Chick Fil A is still a quality place to eat.  Their salads are always fresh and they completely closed their salad orders down when there was a salad scare recently, not just for the time period but for a few weeks afterward to ensure the lettuce (all kinds) was safe for their customers.  They are the only fastfood place I know that has personnel inside helping at the tables and seeing if you need something, picking up your plates, etc.

I have never been one of these, but I do see that they are recommended.

I checked their site and the salads range from 14-27 g of fat, 700-1,300 mg of sodium and 6-13 g of sugar.  The dressings 1-31 g of fat, 330-650 mg of sodium and 1-19 g of sugar.  It depends what combination you choose.  The low fat dressing is the high sugar one.

I would never have that much salt or sugar, I would still just go home hungry.

Did not dare look at the sandwiches.

This product shrinkage has been going on for years. I believe it started with cans of coffee going from 16 ounces (1 pound) to 15 ounces, then 14, then 13, etc.. But the price doesn't go down, lol. They expect the consumer not to notice, b/c it's done gradually. Cans of soup and vegetables also shrank. So did cereal boxes. Nothing seems to be 1 pound any more.

Then it happened with half gallons of ice cream. They became 1.75 quarts, then 1.5 quarts.

Toilet paper rolls got narrower. Some look so narrow to me, they could almost be rolls of adding machine paper, lol.

My opinion is that "adult" size food servings will eventually get so small, they will look like they're baby food portions. Woman Surprised Woman Frustrated

Occasionally my husband buys the 2@$6 sandwiches from Burger King.  His choice is almost always 2 Whoppers with lettuce and tomato.  They appeared to be the same size they've always been.

Shrinking sizes is not limited to fast food, just look at supermarket foods.  I think the two primary reasons behind the shrinkage is cost savings (often by fooling the eye of the consumer) and to meet specific nutritional guidelines.

I've found that foods that once served two are now labeled to serve 2.5 or 3.  Same number of ounces but smaller portions therefore fewer calories, etc. per serving.  This also allows the manufacturer to use specific words in their advertising--low calorie, healthy, etc.

For example Campbell's tomato soup.  The same 10-3/4 can now contains 2.5 servings but the serving size has been reduced to 1/2 cup at 90 calories.

Remember when canned tuna was six ounces?  Over the years it has been reduced in half ounce increments to the current 5 ouncces with a drained (net) weight of 4 ounces but now serves 2 at 1/4 cup.

The list is endless and even if the product contains the same weight it now serves more.

I know.  I make sure I always look at the portions!!  My daughter kept telling me about this meal that was so good, and only 175 calories!  I looked and said, do realize this is 3 servings!!!  You have been eating 525, not 175 calories.  Same for things like bagels  or muffins, it is usually calories for 1/2.  Makes you think what one wants to eat?  Is it worth it.?

and really marp, who eats 1/2 cup soup? Lol.   Well maybe a toddler.  I don't know why they don't just make it 1 cup, and double calories.  But that would be 180 calories, lol. 90 sounds better.

I've never eaten at Chick Fil A, but do appreciate the same service provided at my local Culver's.  They keep things so neat and sanitary.

We live in S. WI & our Culver's is very nice and clean & there is always a person walking around asking if we need this or that.  They take away our trays too so that we have more table space

I don't buy a huge amount of fast food but I do get salads in the summertime and occasionally chicken in some form.  In early December I went to KFC and ordered a pot pie.  When I got home and looked at it, I couldn't believe my eyes.  It was about the size of a big muffin.

Today I got a salad at Wendy's....i get them frequently in the summer but haven't had one for several months.  Once again, I was shocked at the size.  It has shrunk to the size of a small restaurant side salad.

I will not buy either of these again.  Don't these places realize people buy these items as entrees and expect them to be a meal?  Now they are little more than an appetizer.  I may be cured of the fast food habit.

Has anyone else noticed the amazing shrinking fast food?

Yes, good reason, among many, to avoid fast food joints.

I have not had fast food since my son was little and wanted a Happy Meal for the toy inside, that was 30 years ago. I remember when Wendy's first opened and the burgers and fries were huge and delicious, but that was 40 years ago.

The only place I buy a salad now for a meal is Chick fil-a. I love their market salad with berries and loaded with chicken. It’s so big I sometimes can’t finish it. Some of the hamburgers I see now are like sliders and they used to be huge. The value isn’t there many places now but the Chick fil-a salads are a good value.

Read the fine print on Pei Wei menus and it will say most of their dishes are for two servings! Few times does anyone order one entree for two people.

We rarely if ever eat fast food unless we are on the road and nothing else is available...if it’s McDonald’s, it reminds me why we don’t ever go there when we are back home. We live in an older neighborhood and most of the fast food places have moved to the newer, fast-growing areas to the north of us...and that’s fine with us.
