Once or twice a year, I have a craving for a McDonald's $0.99 hamburger.  So I'll stop by and purchase two.  That's the extent of my fast food consumption.  The restaurants are unappealing for so many reasons.

@Still Raining  That's unfortunate you feel that way because Chick Fil A is still a quality place to eat.  Their salads are always fresh and they completely closed their salad orders down when there was a salad scare recently, not just for the time period but for a few weeks afterward to ensure the lettuce (all kinds) was safe for their customers.  They are the only fastfood place I know that has personnel inside helping at the tables and seeing if you need something, picking up your plates, etc.

I have never been one of these, but I do see that they are recommended.

I checked their site and the salads range from 14-27 g of fat, 700-1,300 mg of sodium and 6-13 g of sugar.  The dressings 1-31 g of fat, 330-650 mg of sodium and 1-19 g of sugar.  It depends what combination you choose.  The low fat dressing is the high sugar one.

I would never have that much salt or sugar, I would still just go home hungry.

Did not dare look at the sandwiches.

@Still RainingYes, a lot of nutritionists and physicians have pointed to studies that it has been a contributory factor to the record high obesity rates we have in our population.

Giggle.

I don’t think it needs a degree & fancy initial behind your name

to figure out fast food is a contributor to obesity.

And for the ‘physicians’ who are pointing it out...that’s about

the extent of their nutritional knowledge. I guess the traditional

medical profession has taken all this time just realizing it when other,

more responsible medical professionals, have been swimming against

the stream for 40-50 yrs & are actually doing something to fix it.

People who have those responsible doctors have been healed

for decades.  Funny to see the traditional side finally waking up.

@sidsmomI suspect the medical profession is loath to admit the link between fast food and obesity.  After all, how much money do they earn treating obesity and related ailments...

I haven't noticed the sizes of fast food being smaller, but I think prices have gone up. What I have paid at the drive thru, I could have easily gone in to a restaurant and eaten for just a few dollars more.

Do yourself a favor & step away from KFC

@software.  Not anymore; it's not huge.  I don't think it was ever what I'd call huge.  Now it's very petite.  It was something I might eat twice a year.

@ECBG  The ones I have been in have an older person, who I expect is of the mangement's choosing (when I say older, I mean 55-60 years old, maybe more) and the persons there are so sweet.  I think it is a way of satisfying customers and giving some elderly person who could not find work, a job or an income supplement.  I think it is sweet.  The two in our area and the others I went into when DH was out of town, were just precious little sweet ladies and in one, there was a little man sweeping and picking up.

@NonametodayI remember when they were having trouble about being open on Sunday.  The Owner and CEO is very religious and no doubt very family oriented.

I've never eaten at Chick Fil A, but do appreciate the same service provided at my local Culver's.  They keep things so neat and sanitary.
