These two really bug me. Both in positions of PUBLIC TRUST, and they are both now going to serve jail time and pay fines. I am referring to former Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr. and his wife Sandy Jackson (a former alderman in Chicago city council). They are supposed to be sentenced next week. He to 4 years and she to 18 months in jail for cheating on 6 years worth of tax returns. She was also in on his spending of campaign money. I guess 2 jobs on government payrolls wasn't enough for them.
Mr. Jackson has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, so I cut him a LITTLE slack. She has no excuse. He says he cannot pay the $750,000 fine for stealing campaign funds. And, since has mental health issues, he states that he may NOT be able to pay it back. He has also been ordered to return 24 items he bought, but has only returned 12 for $21,000.
So, the fed. govt. is asking to seize their 2 homes (1 in Chicago, 1 in Washington) and $80,000 in pension funds.
I say they did the crime, they do the time. This is hard earned people's money, and they should forfeit anything of value to pay it back. When you are in a position of public TRUST, they should throw the whole book at you.
