@Leggett28, I had wondered about that, too. Perhaps some people want to drink only bottled water. I guess it can't hurt to have bottled water on hand anyway.
I asked this on another thread and got lots of answers about needing to store water in case of broken water mains. I still don't see what that has to do with the virus - it's not as if the virus is going to cause broken water mains, nor do I see how it might contaminate the water. I still don't understand the advice to stock up on a couple of weeks of water.
The only thing that I can think of would be if water services literally come to a stand-still, where people would be too ill to go in to work to do their jobs at the water filtration plants.
That's the only thing that I can think of, that comes to my mind--like if we're all told to stay in and be in some kind of self-imposed isolation or quarantine, where we should need/have lots of toilet paper and paper supplies like paper towels and sanitizer in case we can't do laundry, either.
Just taking a guess..?
I'm just trying to think why someone else might stock up on some of these items.
My immune system is compromised, so I already use sanitizers and we carry bottled water with us so that we can take medications with us when we're out, if necessary.

Coming back from the shopping center, I saw 3 high school students wearing masks.
And the numbers keep growing: 9 deaths so far. The fear is real here.

I'm in SPOKANE, from what a I've heard, at least half of those people, Maybe more, had underlying health conditions.
That doesn't make their deaths, less sad, but, easier to explain. How many people, have died, so far, this year, from regular influenza?
This is a less known virus, but, hopefully, people don't panic.

I went to Costco yesterday and the Kirkland water was sold out. they had Poland Spring water and it was limited to 5 cases. I got one case. I don't have room to keep 5 cases.
Stopped in Target too--no hand sanitizer, and the pain reliever sectison was almost bare. I just wanted a small bottle of generic Tylenol. Had to take the brand name.
I think folks are panic shopping. Trying to stock up on essentials. Maybe it makes some feel better. I don't see the point. We will drink tap water if we have to.

We Have always had bottled water on hand, but I didn’t think about stocking up. My main worry about all this is for our daughter she has asthma. One of her inhalers she needs to pick up ( the pharmacy texted her to say it’s ready) her co-pay is over $400. But it doesn’t matter about the cost she has to have it.The reason for this price is the company she works for changed insurance and they are calling the asthma pre-existing condition. She works for a big insurance company go figure.

I was at CVS this morning, a customer was looking to ask a worker something, before the customer could get any words out, the worker said “ we don’t have any hand sanitizer or masks”! The woman wasn’t even asking about that!

Back in 1976 we were all going to die of the swine flu.
Take precautions but worrying will not help.

We have used purified drinking water (bottled) and filtered tap water for a long time in both cities where we've lived.
Tap water from municipal suppplies tastes awful once you've gotten used to water free of chloramine and other undesirable stuff.
Sometimes when I have turned on the tap, I get a huge whiff of what smells like bleach. Municipal water authorities add chloramine in even greater quantities during periodic "flush outs" of the system. You can definitely tell when that happens.

I keep a supply of bottled water on hand as part of being prepared for an earthquake in Washington.
When I was in an Arizona Costco a week ago, every cart seemed to be piled high with bottled water. The tap water in this city is awful.
