Re: Shop Around First For The Best Price!!!

I've always been a comparison shopper.... I've even found a few Valerie Parr Hill items at places like Big Lots and LTD Commodities.

Re: Shop Around First For The Best Price!!!

@ciao_bella  I also shop around, as you do. Even though I don't usually buy clothing from QVC, I do shop home, decor and kitchen items. There are so many products I've seen on QVC that I would probably not have found on my own, and for that reason I'll continue to watch Valerie Parr Hill and David V.

Usually, the first thing I do is check Amazon for a quick price check. It's important to compare apples to apples to make sure you are looking at the same product. Sometimes, no one but QVC is offering the item. The Kuhn Rikon can opener (K51430), for example is sometimes offered at QVC, A, and the KR website. The price and colors vary, so I've purchased it at all three places when buying for friends and family.

I think it's just prudent to look for the best price. Often David V. asks his audience to check around to see that QVC is offering the best price. His claim is "it's the best price we found."

And yet another person telling us how to shop. We already know, don't need yet another tutorial.

These are soooo boring! I read 2 sentences and I'm done.

These ramble on and on and on...

Re: Shop Around First For The Best Price!!!

While I understand that some might need to budget and price check but I hate wasting my time "shopping around" for a better price to save a few dollars when I can afford it.  When I see something I like and want to buy then I do buy it wherever I saw it.  My time is worth far more than saving a few dollars here and there!!

@chrystaltree  No need to get so defensive and snarky. The poster merely suggested we all shop around before buying. Many of us do that, but she has a right to express her opinion.

Re: Shop Around First For The Best Price!!!

I have never shopped around for anything QVC carries, because mainly what I buy on QVC is only sold on QVC.

If I wanted very cheap clothes I could go to any of the four or five major outlet centers less than an hour away.  We also have two QVC outlet stores with clothes sold for pennies.

We have lots and lots of grocery stores, Targets, and Walmarts, etc. in our area so I can always do a short drive to find cheap people food and pet food.

I mainly comparison shop sequin dresses across Nordstrom and Bloomies, ballgowns across Saks and NM, but that is only when I am looking for something quite specific for a special occasion.

I have been very pleased with all my decades of shopping at QVC, and especially the great prices during lunch time specials!

I do not know anyone who has ever purchased clothes from Amazon.

What I found surprising about this thread is wondering .... who doesn't already do that?

Everyone I know compares prices for the best deal.  This is nothing new.

That try&buy is not new.  Amazon instituted that awhile ago.  It doesn't apply to all clothing.  Why are people who admit they never shop QVC try to dissuade others?  What do people you get out of it?  Do you how insulting it is for you to dare lecture others about shopping around?  Like were too dumb to figure that out....lol.  And you nothing about shopping Amazon.  You are telling us things that Amazon put into place YEARS ago.  I would never presume to tell others how to shop or manage their money.   Whether you like it or not, accept it or not; many of us love QVC because we are getting the best prices .....for us.

Just to set the record straight, I used to buy a lot of stuff from QVC.  Had purchased from them even before they changed the name to QVC, so to assume I 'never' shop QVC is not true.  I said in my post,  I don't buy "much" from QVC.  Secondly, I'm not lecturing, I'm merely pointing out that better prices can be had at other places and I gave an example, as some others on this thread have also done.  So, spend your money any way you'd like, but please do not tell me I have no right to voice how I spend mine or as I see fit and, like you, I can voice my opinion in here whether you agree with it or not!.

@ciao_bella , ignore that poster.  It's the way that poster is 3/4 of the time, except of course, when that poster needs advice, opinions or needs to vent - then it's different.

Thank you for the thread.

Re: Shop Around First For The Best Price!!!

I do the same thing as OP does---those throng sandals by Clarks,  are my favorites and I have probably 9 pairs in different colors--wear them all the time. My last pair that I bought, was last summer at Macys--they are the bright lime green color but have a flower by where you adjust them---got them for under $28. I have never paid $50 for any of the ones I have. I also use the AMZ try before you buy feature and all has gone very well, just bought a pair of Crocs recently using that program.
