@hckynut Guns don’t kill people. Crazy unstable people with guns kill people. Therefore, common sense would dictate that we need to pass laws to keep the crazy unstable people from getting them, period!!
Laws cannot keep criminals from getting them illegally now. How are you planning on identifing "crazy, unstable people".
We are the only civilized country with the problem. Our leaders have to figure out a way to make it more difficult for people to obtain weapons. They also have to crack down on the trafficking of illegal weapons. How they do it is up to them. They ran for office & made all sorts of promises about keeping us safe. They ought to live up to their obligations. That’s all I’m going to say on the matter. We all have our opinions & are not about to change our minds. So we’re going to have to agree to disagree.Have a safe day!!
@NicksmomESQ, it does seem to be futile, doesn't it? If I hear "guns don't kill people, people kill people" (or however the slogan goes), I will...do nothing. There is nothing to be said or done. There is no "ah" moment on the horizon. :-(

So true. Just sitting there in the safe, or in the factory, they don't do any damage at all.
My home state, So SAD.
Yep, and the same thing can be said about motor vehicles when parked or in the factory.

I don’t disagree with your point at all.
Just as I think that some people are incapable of managing the responsibility of gun ownership, some are not capable of the responsibility attached to owning a car.

I’ve made a response to your follow up post on this topic.

Certainly, that doesn't mean everyone educated, is going to be a model citizen, but, the majority of people that are, do not act like this.
Reading this, along with your post #14, where you commented that educated people understand the dangers of guns, and thus do not committ violence with guns, you seem to believe that education creates the ability to ‘reason and think’ .
I am an educated person, while my education provided me opportunities to practice reasoning and thinking, I certainly was able to do so all along.
While we are all entitled to our opinions, this denigrates a good portion of our country / world.

@Drythe, I do disagree with his statment. It is an apple/orange analogy.
Cars are made for transportation; guns are made to injure, maim, or kill.

Each time we (society) try to have a discussion about gun control it seems to go directly to ‘All or Nothing’, and then straight to screaming deadlock!
So I think a compromise is that those with the psychosocial skills to manage gun ownership should be allowed to do so.
Screening would help.

I truly believe that the time for sitting ‘dead’ at the gridlock we have had for years is rapidly vanishing, if not gone.
