Shoes, Shoes, and more Shoes

I haven't counted the number of pairs of shoes I have, but I think many.

I am not quite Emelda Marcos (remember her?), but I have that

kind of obsession.  I know I have many, many more shoes than I had as a younger woman.

Sometimes I think I am trying to hang

on to my youth, even though youth is many decades in the past.

I used to laugh with my husband about his many shoes and jackets.  But in both areas, I now far surpass him.

And just tonight, I was considering some Alegrias.  Those pear

sandals were calling my name.  Last night it was Fly London.

I have two darling pairs of Camper sandals in their boxes in my closet. I've only worn one pair a few times.

I have several shoes I rarely wear or worse:  I'm "saving" them much the way a squirrel saves nuts  (they may become unavailable).

How are you regarding shoes, handbags, jackets, etc?

I have heard callers say, for example...."this is my 20th Dooney".

I love shoes and own probably around a hundred pairs but this includes boots, sandals, evening shoes, flats, pumps, sneakers and other styles.

I have a real shoe problem.  They're such a wonderful collectible because they always fit, even when you gain or lose a few pounds.  I'm sure I have well over100 pairs but who's counting?  Mine are all flats; a few boots and slippers, the rest "comfort" shoes.  I can no longer wear heels at all.  Storage is my biggest problem.  I've got so many, I don't even know what I have.

Re: Shoes, Shoes, and more Shoes

I have too many shoes.  When I moved I got rid of some, as well as some handbags.

This week I have bought four pairs and one pair on waitlist.  That's too many.  A couple of months ago I bought two pairs.  But I needed some summer shoes.  Now I'm gonna have 6 new pairs of "summer" shoes.

One closed toe sandal, one slip on birkenstockish casual sandal, one dressyish open toed sandal, a tennis shoe slip in, a pair of alegrias, and a black pair of gladiators.  Is it all neccessary, no.  But they all feel "needed".

I don't have as many purses, but again the collection is growing.

I want to live with less, and at the moment I am laundering all my clothes to pick out many things to give away.  As well as old shoes & handbags, maybe even some jewelry.

It's so easy to accumulate many things.  I want to work MORE at accumulating LESS.

So Susan in California, I understand!

Don't fret!  It's a common problem!  There are much worse things we could be addicted to.   When I find a shoe I love I buy it in every color!  That is how I end up with too many shoes.

I usually find them on sale!  I just enjoy being a girl even though I'm hardly a girl!! Woman Wink

I have 3 pr black flats, 1pr each black, blue dress heels, 1 pr pink winter boots, 1 black Stone Mountain purse, 1 black formal clutch, a black formal jacket & a navy suit jacket. I don't have a passion for shoes, purses or clothing so I only have what I need.

I have some fairly expensive shoes that I purchased a few years ago, but don't think I can wear them now, but am not willing to throw them out. LOL

When I moved, I got rid of a lot of shoes.

I'm the same - obsessed with shoes.  I have too many but I can't stop buying them.  I LOVE shoes lol.  Just this week though I'm going thru my collection - taking some to Goodwill.  I have to get rid of the heels that are 3" and over - just can't wear them anymore.  Unless they're evening shoes - I can do those for a few hours.

I've got bunches. As far as shoes, it's not like it used to be, where you had a pr of everyday, and best, now. So many shoes, seem to need a certain type of outfit ,to look good

As far as Algeria  they just don't fit my foot properly. I think they run large or something

Re: Shoes, Shoes, and more Shoes

@Susan in CaliforniaYup...I can relate.  One issue is, as most of us,  I'm involved in  activities that are enhanced by specialty shoes....rain, snow, running, club, slippers, boots, swimming, motorcycle, gardening, hiking, biking, tai chi, scuba diving, casual, formal, inbetween! For life, I now live a vegan lifestyle and although I will not replace some shoes I have already acquired, I'm proactively purchasing nonleather shoes as it is a challenge to find.  Enter: vegan Dr. Martens, Tom's, Vibram, vegan Birks, etc.  I just did a purge of leather shoes...didn't touch the inventory however as they wear out they will not be replaced.  Wish I could resolve this as I prefer a minimalist lifestyle. (Husband is an enabler, at Veg Fest he bought me a pair or socks with veggies on them!  Gotta have socks to go with all the shoesCat Embarassed)
