Shipping Charges (another site)

Not from a home shopping network - I received an email from an online favorite with some lovely things on sale.  When it came time to check out, the shipping charges were more than the item!!! Are you kidding me?

Re: Shipping Charges (another site)

If the item was on sale for $2.99 and was big and/or awkward, I can imagine shipping would cost more than the item.

If the item was small and easy to send and was on sale for $14.99, I can't imagine paying more to have it shipped.  And the higher the sale price, the less likely I'd be to expect shipping to exceed its cost.

I'd probably cancel, too -  take it as a sign I didn't really want or need that item.

Re: Shipping Charges (another site)

i just look at the total cost to see whether or not it is worth it to me.

for example, if something is on sale for $5 and it is going to cost me $10.....the entire item will be $15. i then determine if it is worth it or not. if it is, then i purchase.

Re: Shipping Charges (another site)

I just posted in fashion about shipping cost from Penneys.  I wanted to order Jockey long length slip shorts and they are the only place that has them.  Not even the Jockey site has them.

Anyhow, for a pair of slipshorts the s/h is $8.95.  That's ridiculous.

@Lipstickdiva

there is a $10 off $25+ purchase code available.

you still have to pay the shipping, but the code negates the shipping charges.

they also have free ship to store if you have a store close by.

Re: Shipping Charges (another site)

Some people do not realize how reasonable QVC shipping & handling is.  Most places charge more.

As for the places with free shipping, those costs are usually reflected in the selling price. Some places with free shipping charge a yearly fee.  Others have a threshhold you need to spend before you are granted club status and the privilege of free shipping

Re: Shipping Charges (another site)

Before I shop anywhere online I look to see if there are free shipping coupons or some sort of deals.  I first go to Retailmenot dot com.  (not sure if I can use the actual address, but you get the idea.  They provide coupons and codes and usually opportunties for free shipping.  I do not shop Penneys so I don't know if they are even there.  I also go to Ebates and then make sure I get a cash back allowance.  QVC participates in this, as does many retailers.

If I cannot get a deal, I don't shop.  That simple.

Yeah I had the coupon so I used it but it would have been nice to not have the s/h eat up any savings.

Just fyi, they no longer offer free s/h to the store unless you spend $25.00 or more and that is after any coupons/discounts are applied.

I live in Alaska and find that QVC has the highest shipping rates,

of all the home shopping channels, and retailers as well.
