Re: Share a favorite saying!

I'm originally from the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia. The one saying I always remember and still use myself to this day is, "the good Lord willing and the creek don't rise". Meaning, hopefully a certain thing will come to pass if the Lord is willing and something else doesn't happen. And when I was five, the creek that ran along the road past my house did flood, and the waters came up to the edge of the door jamb but didn't come in. Everything around our house was water, but we had gone to higher ground at my grandma's!{#emotions_dlg.ohmy}

My current favorite is from comedian Ron White: "You can't fix stupid!"{#emotions_dlg.laugh}

Re: Share a favorite saying!

mominohio, my grandma used that saying, "the milk has gone blinky." My oldest brother said it the last time I was visiting him, LOL! Hadn't heard it anywhere else.

My favorite that another grandma said was "oh my stars." In the next generation, my mom said "oh my word."

I am a worry wart and get pretty worked up sometimes. I know. Hard to believe huh? LOL. My mother would say, "well, it either will or it won't". And she was right. I miss my mom.

Re: Share a favorite saying!

When I moved south to Houston a new neighbor offered to "carry me to the store"! What? He is going to pick me up?

I learned many new sayings, and expressions during those years!
