Re: Set Your Dvr's. Sunday on TLC a program called Fat and Back...

Actually, in an interview I saw last week, she grudgingly admitted that the process wasn't as straightforward as she had previously assumed, and was crying in frustration at one point during the interview, BUT she appeared to quickly assume her bluff "it's just laziness" persona for the sake of her TV program.

This is like the show where the fellow ate only McDonalds for a month three meals a day... he got fat and sick... duhh.... Anyone who overeats, and makes bad food choices purposely OR because they are a food addict and just gorging themselves .... is going to get fat/ be fat... and be unhealthy.

I do not think her experiment proves anything that is not already known. Calories in, good healthy food choices... and calories burned by moving and staying active are the best ways to control your weight at a healthy level OR lose excess fat if you are overweight.

It is not complicated. It does not require gadgets, diets, books or prepared processed food like nutrisystem. It is just using your common sense.

So your comments suggest that perhaps you've never actually been 100 pounds overweight yourself?

I saw something about this the other day. I won't get to watch tonight. If it's on again, I'd watch. Don't have a dvr.

If it wasn't complicated, everyone would weigh 120lbs.

Well...if my pants get tight....or the scale is up 5-10 pounds....it is a wake up call don't you think....? It says it is time to scale back...step up the moving....I just walk, nothing fancy like dancing....and get it off. No, I would not let myself put on 100 pounds. Does that make me a fat hater? No. It makes me someone who values my health as I have health issues with my back and want to treat my body well. It is hard for me to exercise...I do the best I can.

Not interested in watching. I think this is the woman who was interviewed by Entertainment Tonight last week. Watching that interview was enough for me. Overbearing.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

It's really great that that's what works for you, you know it, and you live by it. It is very difficult for people who live as you do to be able to understand the life of someone who lives as a morbidly obese person. I now wear clothes in medium, 12-14, but my mind is still morbidly obese. By the grace of God, I, like you, now know how to live a saner, healthier way, and I AM becoming more confident and less worried about slipping, but it is an aspect of my life that will never be automatic. I don't think of your posts as suggesing in any way that you are a "fat hater". I just ask you to consider that for someone who lives in my body, calories in-energy expended-"just using your ccmmon sense" isn't the whole story by a long shot, and as graycatsrule succinctly states, for some of us "If it wasn't complicated, everyone would weigh 120 pounds". Thanks for posting! Smiley Happy

I'm not watching, but I'd be willing to bet that woman started with a body type not prone to weight gain. They do exist - and people who have those bodies almost never gain large amounts of unhealthy weight unless they hit medical problems - or unless they set out to earn dollars from TLC - which pretty much means The Looney Collection in my book.
