Senior Dog and Incontinence Advice Needed

I adopted Blondie, a wonderful husky-mix senior dog who is 12 years old. She was a sled dog and has arthritis in her neck and hips. I have been giving her ArthriSoothe Gold and it has been helping with the arthritis and pain.

When I adopted her the people said she had been an outside dog and she had a problem with incontinence. Blondie did not want to stay outside because I have two other dogs and they are inside. I have had her inside too. She goes out 3 times before I leave for work but she had two major accidents this week. She also poops in the house. I was told that as she was an outside dog she just does not understand. She wants to do the right thing. I also learned that arthritis in an older dog can cause both problems.

I have tried diapers but the X-Large is too small. I have a crate that I am using this weekend, but I am worried that she will feel caged (and for a husky-mix that could put her in a health decline.) I do not believe in chemical (prescription) medications but I worry that natural ones may not be effective.

What do you all advise? What has worked for you?
