Why would you want to see a young mans life ruined?

Why?  Maybe to see another young mans life saved from being shot by the police.  Also to save a policeman from the pain of shooting a fool with a gun that looks real but isn't.

How about just making illegal to carry any kind of gun in public? Real or fake.

That might solve the problem.

🤦‍♀️

Did you really just say that?  So all we need is something on paper and the problem would no longer exist?  Hmm, imagine that 🤔.  What about common sense or personal responsibility and accountability?

Obvious toys aren't the problem.

Legal carriers aren't the problem.  I know many and I have never seen their firearm out of the holster in a public situation.

@JeanLouiseFinch The college/university offering the scholarships doesn't have to consider the mother and her pleas.  Depending on the institution, admin may decide to renege on their offers.

('Course, if he's a gifted player who's been heavily recruited, he'll likely get away with this behavior because, well, money and winning are very important, ya know.)

Yes, I just said it. Why should anyone walk around showing a gun? What purpose does it serve except to show you are a potential danger?

Re: Senior Assassin “Game”

What happened to common sense?  Schools and LE make some rules:  No guns that are black or could be mistaken for a real weapon.  Water in them only (we used cheap perfume), only during hours of whatever, at schoolground only, etc. Specify the day.

Let the kids have fun.  We had a lot of fun with it a million years ago when I was in school (still have my water gun and it was a cannon!).  Maybe the cops could barge in and make a run down the hall and get a good squirting in!

First and foremost, self protection.  Talk to any legal carrier and they will tell you they never want to have to use their firearm.  Criminals don't care about the law.  Taking the right to carry away from law abiding citizens puts them in a greater risk of being harmed or killed by said criminal.

GOOD that he did jail time. Hopefully, he will NOT get either scholarship. He has to learn that there are CONSEQUENCES for his actions.

I didn't say anything about taking away rights to carry.

Huh? 🤔 That was your initial comment that began this conversation.  How else is your statement to be taken?

Apologies. I should have been more explicit and said "open carry". That is what I meant. I furthered the point in my second comment to you:

"Why should anyone walk around showing a gun? What purpose does it serve except to show you are a potential danger?"

There is no logical reason to walk around publicc obviously armed. Unless you are advertising that you are a walking time bomb. If nobody was allowed to open carry, we wouldn't have to figure out who the bad guys are.

But of course, it would be perfectly OK for a cop's life to be ruined if he/she were suddenly faced with a kid pointing that very realistic looking gun at them and firing at the kid.

Then everyone would be screaming - it wasn't a real gun.  The cop was trigger happy.  The poor family.  The kid is now dead - or paralyzed or severly traumatized and the cop must PAY.  THAT would be OK with you?
