I was wondering if anyone has ever put up items for sale on Ebay, what exactly does it entail? I have an Erica Kane Barbie Doll, I Dream of Jeannie Barbie Doll, Cher Barbie Doll, and some other toy items (I have a Toot-a-Loop radio people of a certain age will know what I'm talking about and the dolls are in the orginal packaging never played with). A coin dealer I have dealt with will put it up on Ebay for me but take a 25% fee of what it sells for. I'm wondering if I can do it myself.

the fees would be 13% and greater depending on specifcs
if someone is willing do all the work and give you 75% of the selling price, i'd say that is a great deal!

@Jordan2 You can easily do it yourself. It does take some times and effort tho. FIgure out a good sale price and if you want to do it with a fixed price auction or a regular style auction when bidders can bid up the price. You will need to take good pictures to showcase what you're selling and show details. You need to come up with a detailed description. People may have questions for you about the item, so responses take some time. When the item sells then you pack it carefully and safely and ship it to the buyer!
So really it's up to you if you want to give it a try yourself. You may decide to do it or that it's worth it to pay a little extra and have this other person do it for you .
Just thought of a question tho ...... is it 25% plus ebay's take?

@Jordan2 I suggest you take a good look around Ebay and see what these types of items are selling for or if they are even selling at all, then decide.

I sold one thing on ebay. It was an American Girl outfit. It seemed to sell itself. It was brand new. So all I had to do was show a picture and a brief comment and it was sold.
Why not start out with an easy item, that you feel will sell well. And ease into selling. With each sale I think you will find it becomes easier.
And if not, then use the dealer. But I think you will find that you will do just fine.

If they take 25% and also package and ship then that's a great deal. Buyer pays shipping however you supply shipping supplies, time to package and trip to the shippers, if this is done for you then that is a big time saver.
As other poster suggested look at sold listings for the same item to see if it is worth your time.

@moonandthestars I don't know, she told 25% was her take. There is a guy I dealt with before for coins, I may bring in what I have and have him take a look at them.

Do it yourself. It's easy. USPS supplies boxes for free. You just pay for wrapping and tape. USPS comes to your home during normal delivery and will pick up your item for free. You just have to specify that you have a pick at USPS.com.

Ebay now requires sellers to link a checking account in order to receive payments. Thought you should know since some people aren't comfortable with that.

Start first by doing a Search and click Completed Listings. This will show you what other recent auctions have been posted. If the dollar amount is in black, it didn't sell. If the dollar amount is green, that's what the item sold for.
Do some searches as if you were trying to buy what you want to sell. You can learn a lot about what makes a good ad for these types of items.
Good luck .... hope the demand is high ... you never know.
