I read this on facebook via Entertainment Tonight.

Jessie Gallan, the oldest woman in Scotland is 109. When asked the secret to her long life, Jessie replied stay away from men! (lol) Jessie never married.

She also said she always exercises regularly, and she ate a bowl of porridge every morning.

That stay away from men made me chuckle. Haha I guess it depends on the man!

(For the record I love my husband dearly. Hes a wonderful husband, but I had to tease him a little about this one).

So anyway statistics say happily married couples live longer for the most part.

But I guess Jessie disagrees. Bless her heart.

It's funny........we say "happily married" but how often do you hear "happily single"?

Single or married, happiness is the key.

You have a point Snowpuppy. I believe you can be happily single, unhappily single, happily married, unhappily married (Hopefully not the unhappy choices).

Given the times when she was a young woman, I presume that would also mean no children. For me that would be a very empty life too.
