The tickets are open to WAshington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Alaska residents. I think this was the case in the past also. It's supposed to give preference to Seahawks fans and discourage scalping somehow. Not sure how that works, but that was what was reported.

</ That's my understanding, too. The Seahawks are the only team nearby for all of the PNW states.

Yes, but how fair is that? Sportsmanship, and all that.

I don't know how it discourages scalping, either, just the opposite, it seems.

A secondary market is NFL ticket exchange or StubHub. They are not scalped tickets. You do pay a bit to alot more for the tickets however. As soon as the tickets are put up for sale,StubHub and NFL ticket exchange buy up as many as they can to sell in what is called a secondary market.

The same was done for the Patriots vs Broncos game tickets so it was just not the Seahawks doing. GO HAWKS

Yes, we know it was not just the Seahawks, although it was a surprise that Seattle would do that.

BTW, if any fans from Seattle are in SF tomorrow, you're invited to the famous Lefty O'Doul's bar in Union Square.

The owner is offering Seattle residents their famous Bloody Marys for just 49 cents

Well, it's fair in that it's the Seattle team, and the stadium is partly being paid for by Seattle people, and the game is here on Seattle's turf. However, do not confuse the city of Seattle and its liberal philosophies with Paul Allen et al, the NFL, and professional sports. All of their decisions are made with the dollar sign in mind. They want to keep the Seahawks fans happy and willing to pay exorbitant ticket prices for a long time to come. Therefore, the tickets are offered to Washington fans, plus fans in states where regular season Seahawks tickets are sold the most. I suppose it's a NFL thing in most cities.

I went to Lefty O'Doul's last weekend! It was my first time! Fun..it reminded me of the Irish bars in Boston, where I used to live.

Go 49er's! There was doubt they could win last Sunday, in the freezing conditions but they're tough and they're ready for the latest challenge.
