Im sorry but I cant stand them ive lived in seattle 1/2 my life and cannot believe how wound up people are over this team. They are over paid over hyped athletes who chase a ball down a field, they arent curing cancer or solving world peace or antyhing important I just dont get the fever and frenzy over a football team that in my opinion will choke and fail like they always do in a playoff situation

Seems like a rather negative view. All athletes are overpaid, but at least some of them use their celebrity and give back to their communities. Some actually raise money for cancer and other diseases. Hate to be the bringer of bad news, but football isn't going away anytime soon, it's a national past time, almost a religion to some. I'm sure the Seahawks will go out and give it their best this afternoon, and win or lose, they had a really great season.

ETA: Congrats on your first post! Smile

Well, Mary, I can't pretend to speak for everyone, but for me its something positive and fun to focus on for a change. With all of the unhappiness and negativity that seems to take us over (politics, war, illness and much more) it gives us all a little escape and it definitely has brought our community together. I don't see how that's a bad thing. JMHO of course.

Well, Mary, you've just described all pro athletes, haven't you? For someone who doesn't like the team, you certainly know about their performance history. I have never attended a Seahawks game. Baseball is my game. And I do agree that way too much attention in this nation is focused upon pro sports. However, I am enjoying the phenomena of the fans' exhuberance. I'd rather see over hyped sports events in this city with deliriously happy fans than the anarchists who periodically appear at well meaning events to disrupt and destroy city property and shift the focus of the event. And it beats all the hoopla and disappointment over the drilling of that ill conceived tunnel which is fraught with delays and problems.

Russell Wilson may not cure cancer, but he and his wife visit a children's hospital every week. Giving those kids something to look forward to, making them happy, that's certainly improving their lives.

And going to the ballet . . . opera . . . and no they aren't curing cancer or solving world peace either but people enjoy it.

Life is about ENJOYMENT. Different strokes for different folks. Enjoy it. Each and every day. You never know, it might be your last day.

I think they'll make it to the Super Bowl because they have the home field advantage throughout the playoffs. I don't know how well they'll do in the Super Bowl since it's going to be in Giants Stadium so the weather could have an impact on that game.

I'm in, are you? Go Hawks. This is our year! Pouring with hail and high winds right now in west Seattle.
