Just like my almost 90 year old father, I hated anything that has (or had) to do with back to school.  STILL!

The only plusses were buying all new clothes and shoes and seeing the BOYS.Woman LOL  (I.was.boy.crazy.)

I pretended to enjoy it all for my own three children and never owned up to it --- how I really felt.  It was a drain and it was a strain.

Other than 1st day back to school jitters for my grandchildren, who as of this week are all in session now, they really seem to enjoy it.  I hope so.

Kids have been back to school for over a month already where I live.

@Meowingkitty  same here in Atlanta. I even forgot about the start date because my niece and nephew go to SCAD and they start next week. It seems so strange.

A new box of Crayola crayons with the sharpener in the back. That was a BIG deal as a child, lol.  How they smelled when you opened the box......all part of the Back To School moment. I can smell that smell Smiley Happy

I was Secretary to the Principal for 13 years.  For me, then, and somehow still, New Year's Eve is Labor Day and first day of school is equivalent to January 1!Woman LOL

Have a great school year!

@FiddleDeeDee

Did you melt crayons on the radiators? There was something about that fleshtone and burnt umber...

I want the 64 box of Crayola crayons.  It had the sharpener on the bottom of the box.  I can remember how the new crayons smell.

I'm always a little sad when the kids go back to school. No more sounds of kids playing in the neighborhood or riding bikes around and the worst part is no more grand kids coming over to spend the day. I will miss it all till next summer!

Always a good idea to stock up on a few spiral notebooks when they are 25 cents or so..great for making lists, etc. Wheny I was still in education I always bought about 100 of them to give students who always showed up with no paper and no pen...so old habits are hard to break. Now I buy 5 or 10 and they last DH and me the year...also buy highlighters, pens, and white-out for my Bible notes. Everyone needs school supplies!
