Two students were shot and killed today at a school in Aztec, New Mexico, a small town of 6,000 Northwest of Albuquerque.  The shooter was also killed.  None of the dead have been publicly identified.

I think these school shootings are the saddest things that happens in our society today.  A child should be able to attend school without worrying about being shot, school should be a safe place.

Sad that the NRA has so much power.

I don't mean to argue but I find it lazy to blame the NRA. Frankly I blame parents who raise monsters who don't value human life.

Re: School Shooting

[ Edited ]

I find that argument simplistic. When all those children were killed in Sandy Hook, nothing happened. We are in big trouble with all the guns in this country.

Repealing the 2nd ammendment is never going to happen. So I prefer to focus on what is going wrong in many families across this country where people seem so prone to violent tendencies. It isn't just gun violence it's many more things, why do people feel justified in taking other lives in any manner just because they're unhappy with their own. It's just disturbing why more people don't reach out for help instead of killing people.

Most school shootings are a result of bullying. The shooter is harassed, ridiculed, and more until he reaches a breaking point. Some become shooters other commit suicide. Parents need to teach their children respect for others. Those who harass others need to be removed from the school.

@Kachina624 They have now identified the two who were killed by the shooter.  They haven't id'd the shooter yet, or said how he died.

I live about 35 miles from Aztec.

This is from Durango Herald .com..

"The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office identified the two victims as Casey Marquez and Francisco Fernandez. New Mexico State Police confirmed the shooter was a male, but declined to identify the suspect or say whether he was a student."  DW

Kachina, My heart goes out to the innocents killed in this shooting.

On December 14th, it will be the fifth anniversary of the Sandy Hook shootings.  Twenty little ones lost, as well as six brave women trying to protect those children.  Yes, the school principal running toward the shots, as well as details I cannot talk about here.

And all this took place in about five minutes.

That is all I will say.
