@gertrudecloset    I haven't made an Amazon purchase myself for many years nor paid for anything with Paypal, so I can't speak for what their procedures are if I contact them.

In spite of that lack of contact, I do get plenty of scam emails purposting to be from them,  When I called to verify they emails were scams, that was the answer I got.

@millieshops I get scam emails from everyone.  From Banks I've never done business with.  From Amazon that I know aren't really serious.  I get them from legitimate businesses I have dealings with too, like my cell carrier.  The emails all go striaght to spam folder and I delete them.  

Pay Pal does in fact send me monthly statement notifications.  Those are legit and only come once a month.  I rarely open those emails.  I can log on to my Pay Pal account to look at my activity if I need to.
