I hate scam calls. Here in NJ we're getting bombarded with solar energy calls. I get five to ten a week. We also get "You've won a free cruise to the Bahamas," card holder services,  Microsoft, IRS, and more. A really popular one is for the police in one form or another. Both the local and state police issue warnings constantly not to give to anyone claiming they're calling for support for the police. We even get calls from people claiming to be part of the local PAL (Police Athletic League) and there is no local PAL

I unfortunately have to answer the phone as I've got some job applications out and I don't want to miss a call back. You can't know for sure what number they'll be calling from, so you've got to answer the phone.

We never answer and a good tip. Leave the generic answering voice that's on the machine as your message. That way they don't even hear your real voice. They get real tired of the robo voice that answers in that robo tone. A taste of their own medicine. Friends think it'so funny and just talk through or mimic it. The scam calls stop right away.
