I don't know about this plan but I know enough that I'd never use Synchrony bank for anything. Two or three times they charged me 25.00 late charge. I sent the check over a week before it was due. I wrote to them and never heard back.

Nope, not reputable enough for me. I have a high yield savings account with Marcus through Goldman Sachs. There are a number of highly reputable companies offering high yield savings accounts.

I think it should be a joint decision. I'd be mad as **** if my spouse made such a decision without me. It's OUR money, not his.

Agree with several others here, to use AmEx instead- I use them too and it's been good.
And yes, with all these HYS accounts, they rate varies according to the Fed rate changes-

PayPal is a payment system and digital wallet, so the bank you are dealing with is Synchrony- so you have a "middleman", (PayPal) , so to speak!

I had n Pay Pal hackers continually try to scam me on bogus charges they said made on my account via email. They must have hacked my account?

Synchrony Bank treated me like a criminal when my Master Card was hacked. MC sent me a new one with week. It was over charges I wasn't sure that were mine? MC Fraud department was good and thorough.

Through Q they closed my account and Synchrony questioned my identity asking for several facial videos, drivers licence front and back to reapply.. Macy's, Talbots, Pennys, HSN all frozen. I closed them all. I miss the perks but refused to be treated as the criminal. I just had a bad experience.

What I don't like is when banks and go-between entities like Paypal get political and have no qualms debanking a customer if your ideology doesn't match theirs. For example, many years ago when Paypal was doing this you would get penalized if a merchant you purchased from had an ideology they did not care for and when I say penalized I mean fined up to 4 figures. I canceled my account and never looked back. Paypal probably has gone through many changes to their severe rules since then, but I don't care.

Regarding Synchrony Bank, I agree with the person here who stated after making an egregious error on their account and then never correcting it, they too are not worthy.
